Hi there all as it says im looking to buy my frist X5 this would not be my frist BMW as i owned a 318is 96 a few years ago but now i need a bigger car and im after a 3.0d dont really care if its a sport or not but could anyone tell me what to look out for?? im looking to get one under 6k and they around 90,000miles with a 6k under tag so any pointer and things to look out for would be great.

Thanks james

Welcome mate.

There are a few X5 owners on here, Im sure they will be around later

Hi mate I not a lover of diesel as seen from early posts by me but if that's what you want go for it

One thing to look for is all bushes under car as these are common problem being heavy car it Knocks them out even more so if it's got a set of 22 rims

Another common falt is the boot unlocks sometimes when you shut the drivers door other than that you will love it

Test drive both petrol and lorry fuel(diesel)

First there nit a lot of difference in running cost but especially with desel being dearer than petrol at mo

And you won't get 350 bhp out or a diesel

Hope to see pics of your new bm on here soon

yeah thats what i mean iv had my fast cars 2 porsches B) time for family car but still looks good

I'm also not a lover of diesel, never had a BMW diesel tho, after researching the net there didnt seem to be much difference between the MPG of the diesel vs petrol so opted for the 3.0 sport, a fair bit cheaper to buy than the equivalent diesel model. I'm getting around 18 MPG around town (short hilly trips) and 25 MPG on a run (fully loaded) sticking to 70 MPH of course.

to me thats alot

on paper the difference would make the diesel look a lot more economical but many actual owner reviews I read at the time seemed to be only getting a couple of MPG more than the petrol. Good luck in finding an X5 petrol or diesel, either way its never going to be the most economical car :)
