Dexxy,Iv'e just joined this site and I have considered it before but have been told it's not just a straight swap because of the warning system associated with the runflat tyres. Is this true or can you just swap the tyres?many thanks.

I think the warning system detects the car's stance and not the actual tyre... A system that monitors the tyre physically, has its sensors transmitted from the tyre valve/cap !

Dont know if the BMW's the same system, but my Mini detects flats by comparing wheel speed rotation...eg if one flat it will spin faster due to smaller diameter.

If same system, long as all tyres pumped up the same...no probs

Good answer, Gav... But wouldn't the ABS sensors think there was "wheelspin" when one wheel rotates faster?

Different sensors ;)

And dont you mean traction control? ..;)

Yep...

The ABS will apply slight braking to the offending wheel to match the rest.

ALL sensors are Negotiated through the OBC, as you already know...

I cannot see any immediate problem in changing to standard tyre setups, IMHO.
