hI,it says on the castrol website to use 5w-30 fully synthetic in a 2010 184bhp bmw 320d.

I have castrol 0w-30 engine oil,can i use this, somebody told me i cant because of diesel particule filter or something,

any help appreciated

tony

Well... The numbers represent the temperature range at which the OIL works best at startup, for example:

0w30 - The oil is working at its best between freezing and 30 degrees centigrade, these are "Cold Start external temperatures" and NOT engine temps... This country RARELY sees temps above 30 degrees but, in recent years we have had sub-zero ones.

I cannot see any reason why you shouldn't use 0w 30 ! Maybe 0w 40/50, you never know we might get a Mexican Summer this year (Effin doubt it) !!!

Like I said, these are START-UP temperature figures so ALWAYS use a GOOD oil, not a £5 for 5 litre cheap 'n nasty brand... Also consider that Duckhams is a recycled oil.

HTH

i would only use what is recommended myself B)

Would you only use a dealer to service your car, Andy?
