hi guys and girls ive just joined today because of my purchase of the above car, the problem is when i start the car at night i put the headlights on and it takes a long while for anything but the sidelights to come on can anyone please help with this problem?

Thanks

Lee

Welcome along,

Are you saying your side lights come on straight away and your headlights take longer?

If so how much longer?

  • Author

Hi gav yes the sidelights do come on but then it can take nearly 10 mins and constant turning on and off before they eventually come on

Money is on faulty switch. Is it a switch or stalk on the E36?

Either one id say your problem was there.

its a switch on the 36 gav

I'd get that checked first.

Do they flick off and on once their on? If so it could be a wiring problem.

I'd say the switch though

no gav once they are on they are ok i can turn them on and off no problem its just that 1st time at night and if i leave the car for a couple of hrs at night

All I can think of is the switch, get it checked out and let us know.

Ok just a quick update on this problem i'm so glad i didn't spend money on switchgear i didn't need,

i had a hunch one night i opened the bonnet and gave the fuse box a bit of a tap and to my surprise.... on came the

headlights so it now turns out it's a relay problem and after locating the headlamp relay and giving it a wiggle and the lights go on and off as i do this i think i need a new one just not sure if i have to go to main stealer or not??

does anyone know if i do or not please? thanks

Lee

Scrapyard mate. Best bet
