Featured Replies

hi chaps.

baught a new power steering o ring from local dealers,I have a leak on the inlet Union on the high pressure hose that goes into pump. fitted the new o ring and it's still leaking? just wondering if they have given me the wrong o rings . anyone else had this problem, the old o ring is a greenish colour, but these new ones are black.

Morning John

Welcome to the Forum

First the obvious have you tried nipping up the nut ? If you have tried that and the leak remains then I would check the "O" ring for damage also the Nut and Housing. Green colour "O" rings are normally Viton material so I would check www.realoem.com if you haven't already? Put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box and it will call up your model then check the Steering section. There should be a Part Number on your receipt from the Dealer that you can check against realoem that will confirm if it is correct

I hope this helps

hi Dave

sorry for the late reply been down to Ewood park. yep I did try nipping up but to no avail. I will try the link you sent and look up the part no. and check it with vin number......I must admit it's not leaking as bad but still dripping....God I hate leaks.

it's actually coming through the inside of the nut ,so it must be getting past the o ring.

Morning John

Just had a quick look at ISTA and the workshop section doesn't mention any special requirement (Viton) so I can only think it is either a damaged seal or a wrong one.

With you on the leaks

Good luck

Dave

PS. Both Febi and Meyle were OEM suppliers so there should be plenty on the market

Cheers for that.

I think they have given me o rings for the inside of the steering rack and not the end of the high pressure hose. I will call back at Williams b.m. tomorrow and get them to check them again.

went back to local BM dealer, they insisted it was the right o ring, and gave me two new ones free of charge. fitted them the other day and left it over night, and I'm at a total head scratching point,.....it's still dripping.

I'm really at the point of slapping some pegatank on it to see if it seals it, it's a bit like araldite but 10 times stronger???.
