Hi

I'm Paul, based in Yorkshire, current BMW is a 2 Series Active Tourer.

Not had the best experience with it and will be hoping to get some help and guidance in the future which may help others in the longer term.

Regular bloke, family man, trying to make ends meet.

Cheers

Hi Stu

Bought the car thinking it had a FSH, at 70k miles now got 75k ish.

Looks like it hadn't been properly serviced for about 20k miles.

Engine started to run rough and when my regular garage took a look the filter was on the cusp of falling to bits and the oil thick with not much of it. Up until that point it seemed to run ok.

It still runs but rough.

Its been suggested that it could be as simple as the timing chain is stretched but it also could be that more damage has been done.

I'm struggling to find someone/where to diagnose and repair.  Or maybe I'm better just selling as spares or repair??

I'm based in Leeds.

Will prob post on the appropriate forum for help.

Cheers

Hi Paul, sorry. Got your name wrong! 😑

welcome and sorry to hear of the issues.

surely there are new Indy’s in Leeds with software.
if you can get across to hull, there is a good garage called bm tech near the deep.
they are good and all ex bmw technicians.

im based between hull and York.

Thanks for the info.

I'm originally from close to that neck of the woods.

Driving over to Hull with it is likely to be a challenge as its currently SORN and with the engine running rough I'm reluctant to drive that kind of distance.  Reckon I'll have to have it collected and delivered somewhere for diagnosis and repair, which may actually open up places around the Hull area I guess.

I'll check them out, with one or two other independents that have been shared from a post i made on the 2 series forum.

Thanks again for the reply.

Cheers - Paul
