Evening all, got my first BMW, E60 525D.

Thankfully got it as a nonrunner. Thankfully the pervious owner didn't notice he had ran out of desiel, so I got a bargain 🤣.

Jst working threw the daft faults now to get it bk on the road.

Any good diagnostic programme downloads are more than welcomed 😀

Morning Craig

Welcome to the Forum

A real bargain if all the rest is good

The best diagnostic program for your car is INPA/ISTA it will give BMW Dealer level access to all control units it also has WIS (workshop information) TIS (technical information) I have seen it for sale at around £100  There are several others that are BMW capable Foxwell, iCarsoft, Autologic and a few others no doubt

If the car was standing and battery got low that alone triggers multiple faults on Beemers. Try fully charging the battery (only use the charging points under the bonnet or remove the battery for chaging) If the battery is on it's way out fit a new one. Disconnecting the battery for 20/30 mins often resets Fault codes (Dealer trick) though some will remain in the memory (requires Diagnostics to clear)

Good Luck with your Bargain buy ENJOY these are good tough cars

Dave

Nice find with the e60! Those 525d engines are pretty solid. Might want to check the swirl flaps if it hasn't been done already, common issue on these.

Welcome to the club, @Brashwoody! Bet you're grinning ear to ear with that bargain.
