Locked out of a 1990 525i

I have a 1990 525i that does not unlock. I've tried using the key and handle on the passenger side and it only lifts part way . Not enough to unlock the door. Help

    Thank you for your response. I can get into the trunk but unfortunately I don’t have a ski pass through and the battery is under the hood. I’ve had a professional try to unlock the doors but no joy. Thanks again.

    OK can you not raise the car and through the engine bay pull the bonnet release cable, once you have access to the engine bay you should be able to change the battery and power the door locks 

    The only car I have had real problems with had no battery fitted at all
