Hello all,

i own a BMW 420i model 2023 and brake pads worn this night to me while driving.

the car just completed one year and mileage is 18k miles, is it normal that brake pads worn ? Most of my drive is on highways which normally do not need any brakes.

i have understanding usable life for brake pads are at least 30k miles.

let me know your thoughts.

Welcome to the Forum

Could be a sensor issue could be a pad sticking on it's retaining pins? Normally Front pads take the brunt of slowing and stopping so it needs checking. If you can't do it yourself you need the help of someone mechanically capable

Thanks Dave. iDrive shows to me that rear brake pads are worn and needs replacement. I am surprised.. Do you think this is normal for the rear ones to get worn at 18k miles?

Hi Ahmed, can't help with expected values but my dec 71 plate G26 420i Grand coupe has done 29,732 miles and not had to do the rear pads or a message, it's service due in sept.

it had a service nov 22 with 17k miles and nothing for the pads needed doing then.

it does sound dodgy that those would need replacement before the front.
