Bluetooth stopped working

Recommended Posts

Hi there, my Bluetooth has suddenly decided to stop working. It only ever worked for calls but now nothing. The connections option isn't in the main menu any longer either.

I have tried after some advice to reset the idrive but holding in the volume button for 30 seconds does nothing. Neither does holding the mode and volume buttons together.

I'm only 2 weeks into owning this car and don't have a great deal of knowledge on them.

It's a 330d F30

Thanks for any advice.

Morning Wayne

Flaky Bluetooth was one of the reasons I swapped my Display screen for an Aftermarket Android unit 2years ago. A true Plug and Play swap took me about 2 hrs to do and I get Bluetooth that works, better SAT Nav choices all the Android App choices Android Auto plus Carplay if your an Apple fan

Plus all the original CiC functions remain with the ability to switch between systems using the i Drive controller, and for around the same price as the BMW Dealer wanted to Diagnose the issue (not fix it that was just silly)

That would be my route

Morning Dave,

I initially went down this route but the screen isn't compatible with my car so I'm sending it back. I totally understand your reasoning for taking this route though with BMW charging such hefty sums just to diagnose a small but irritating problem. I would have liked to have kept my car oem but if the Bluetooth is going to be a constant bother then I'm going to have to have a rethink.

Which android screen did you fit if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks for your reply mate,

Wayne

Hi Wayne

I brought an Erisin 10.25" screen unit that at the time came with Android 10, fitting instructions were clear and there are a couple of online videos as well. that was 21/2 years ago I chose Erisin because they have a UK support (which happily I have never needed)

Cost was around £300 from memory so for very little outlay I was in control rather than BMW who want a subscription for connected drive then a 2 year subscription for Map upgrades

I have put an Xtrons unit into a friends X5 functions well and looks the same as my Erisin (probably came out of the same factory)

Good Luck

Dave

Well I've discovered today that additional to my Bluetooth not working also the USB and aux sockets don't work. I'm thinking this has to be connected. Has anyone ever had this concern before and was there a fix for it.

Thank you
