Hi guys, my 7 series developed some gearbox issue. When car is cold, when it goes to reverse it dosent move, I have to rave it up to 3000rpm fot it to start moving, and even the it jast barley move. Going forward is ok, but every gear change is with judder.

Now when you drive it for 15 min and everything worms up it drives like new.

Do you know any reliable automatic gearbox specialist around Hampshire?

But I'm willing to travel bit further if needed.

Thank you in advance.

Morning Greg

Welcome to the Forum

Google ZF Specialists in your area that is what you need. The gearbox should be serviced every 60 to 100k depending on use and sadly they rarely are.

I have heard good reports about Solent Gearbox's in Southampton though not used them myself

Good Luck

How is your gearbox, was it sorted, what did you find was the issue?

Morning Tony

Sadly many never close out their posts when the problem is fixed

Find a good transmission specialist (preferably ZF) and get the box serviced they will tell you what the problem is. Gearboxes like engines should be serviced but rarely are Good Luck lets hope it's a simple service job

Morning Peter

Welcome to the Forum

You don't say which model you have most BMW's will have a ZF box (Manual or Automatic) though some models use an Asin Warner box

A lot of 5 speed ZF auto boxes suffered the dreaded clonk/lurch when slowing or coming to a stop. Most could be stopped with a service and software update. Of course all mountings and drive shaft are in good condition
