Hi all - bought a ‘69 plate 6 series GT with M double spoke 648 bicolor wheels under BMW approved used.

Done 2600 miles without any major pot hole strikes (miracle I know) and have been told by another dealer I have three buckled wheels. Not covered under warranty.

anybody had any similar experience with these wheels?

Morning Mike

Welcome to the Forum

Nice car matey

First when driving have you felt any vibration through the steering or car ? Any vibration under braking ?

As far as your wheels go I have heard of and seen buckled wheels in several types but never without some evidence of severe kerbing or pothole damage I would check that the wheels are mounted correctly any crud on the face of the hub will cause the impression of buckling.

I have also seen badly fitted tyres giving the impression of buckled wheels always accompanied by vibration.

Dealers are just a Garage a posh expensive one but still a garage Wheels can be trued I would be inclined to talk to an Alloy wheels specialist if it really is buckling.

Also talk to the original seller as they shouldn't have sold a car with that type of fault

Good Luck

Thanks Dave

Uncharacteristic vibration is what set me down the track with the dealership. Replaced front wheel and had two new front tyres fitted. Did not solve the problem. Second diagnostic showed both rear wheels buckled. Rang dealer that I purchased from and they have said they will do nothing to cover costs. Got a copy of PDI report which records "damage to all 4 alloys" but told this was just cosmetic. Raised complaint to BMW Head Office - lets see where it goes.

Just wondering if this was a common fault on that specific design?

Morning Mike

The sale of goods act if I recall says if a fault was known at the time of sale your on really strong ground here. "Cosmetic damage" would say to me kerbing ?

Keep the pressure on them and good luck

Dave
