Hello all.
New to this forum. I am currently in South Korea and will be receiving my new 2022 530e PHEV next month.
I am wondering how to leave my car so that the 12V battery doesn't deplete when I get back from business trips.
Sometimes I may be gone for 3 weeks.

Do I leave the plug in the whole time? Or will a full charge be enough to hold the 12V from depleting?

Cheers.

David

Morning David

Welcome to the Forum

That's a different question !! Where will the car be left? If it is at the airport or home ?

As the car is new I would think 2 to 3 weeks will be OK (What do BMW say) if unsure and the car is at home then something like a C-tec intelligent charger left connected at the under bonnet charge points should do the job.

Enjoy your new car

Thanks for your reply! The car will be at home. I’ll be getting a cover for it to help against the elements. BMW sales tells me that a full charge of the EV battery will keep the 12V from depleting but I’m always questioning things. Maybe i should ask the service center instead.
I think I’ve read somewhere that the newer cars have that capability but i wanted to make sure cause i don’t want to come home and find out my car won’t start.

Maybe ask them to put it in writing then if there is an issue print it on a bat and go visit the Service Manager 🤣

Being serious I would have thought you will be OK even my old X5 managed 3 to 4 weeks when we were away
