Hi Graham

A healthy Battery should be showing around 12.8v engine off and around 14v engine running. How old is your battery? It may be it just needs a good charge. Check realoem for battery details for your car if matching OEM it may not need registering

Have you checked the loom for the Glow plugs, our son changed glow plugs twice on his Pick Up Truck then we found there was a chaffed cable in the loom. Worth a look

thanks dave, the numbers dont match on real oem,not changed battery since ive had the car,but will try to charge it👍

as for the glow plug will check out the loom

if i need to replace the battery do you think agm would be better even if car has not got start stop on her?

thanks

I changed my X5's battery 2 years ago when it started dying overnight, when I took it out it was the original battery 14years old !! Changed it for a Yusa AGM best deal availble at Halfords on a Sunday. Our son with the Toyota pickup his battery died a 5 years so you never can tell

Often when people change batteries they will put a larger rated battery into the car thinking it will be better, but all that happens is the battery never achieves full charge.

I would buy the rated battery type shown in realoem then I believe that the E83 X3's did not require battery registration.
