My 2008 X5 has an odd creaking sound in the front suspension on the passenger side. It’s especially bad when the car is cold…? My mechanic can’t find the source. Any ideas?

First are you sure it is from the front? The Rose bush at the rear normally telegraphs it's demise by creaking (bit like my knees in the morning 🤣) Stand outside the car and rock it see what you can hear and where the noise is from.

Front suspension on an E70 from memory has a top wishbone (2 bushes and a ball joint) a lower set which is a brake reaction rod and a radius rod again both have bushes and ball joints. Plus the drop links.

The Rear suspension also has plenty of bushes all of which will deteriorate with age and use normally between 60 and 80k when they start to get tired. All can be changed or upgraded.

If replacing any suspension parts do each side and get a 4 wheel alignment one to save tyre wear.

Take a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin in the search box it will bring up your model then look at the drawings for front and rear axels it will give part numbers so that if buying stuff you get the right part

Hi I have a 2017 x5 and when I start it there is a creaking noise that sounds like it is from the front ,any ideas.

When you say "start" do you mean just the engine? If it is then does your car have full air suspension?
