    Welcome to the Forum

    I would start with a Diagnostic session either with a BMW Specialist or a good Independent Garage or if you have deep pockets a BMW Dealership. Could be a lifter issue, Injector rattle or Vanos

    Thanks for the reply sir, would you say this is something to worry about?

    Hi Oliver

    Until you know what is causing the noise it is impossible to say. As an example my X5 started to sound like an old diesel at tick over, turned out to be a failed Vanos solenoid (£20 if I recall) Luckily I do have Diagnostic software so could run a scan.
