Hello,

I am new here and have just imported my M550d xDrive. It is a G30 and, unfortunately, this model was never sold in the UK. I finally got my UK reg (special thanks to our friends in Swansea) but am struggling to get the car insured. The problem is that, as far as the insurers are concerned, this model does not exist (i.e. cannot be selected in their drop-down menus). I tried with Adrian Flux and it was the same.

Does anyone have any insurers they can recommend? Surely, it can't be that difficult!

Wowzer's not heard this one before?? What about Kit Car owners how do they insure? There must be away, what about trying one of their forums for insurance tips

Thank you, Dave. I will pick up the phone this morning and speak to some specialist insurers. I am sure I can get the car insured - it just requires a bit more effort than going on a comparison website!

I ended up getting the car insured with Sutton Winson on a specialist insurance. The deal is good and they were very helpful.

Looking forward to finally getting the fastest Diesel car in the world on the road! 😎

Hi.

I'm really surprised we couldn't help. In our call centre we have the facility to input imported vehicles manually that don't appear on the normal vehicle databases.

Hey Dan, I was told by the person on the phone that none of your underwriting partners would accept my London post code. I got a similar response from other insurers and brokers. Very happy to try you again in a year's time when the insurance is up for renewal.
