We have a 2012 X5 and have had an issue with the air vents not working , meaning the vent was not directing air flow .  We tried at the local dealer in Irvine, CA  but they said only fix was a $250 vent replacement , so after a quick search on Google , we found a parts company that sells replacements.  Try , www.venttabs.com  , it has a decent selection of BMW vent tabs parts .   They have a BMW page :  https://www.venttabs.com/shop-by-vehicle/bmw/   good luck
