A friend had an old 92 1.8  5 series that's not been started for many years. Shes turning over, fires for a second on starter fluid.

Old fuel is at quarter a tank , a gallon a fresh fuel was added to it. I have a feeling that maybe the problem , fuel lines maybe clogged or injectors ? Do these have an eletric fuel pump?

Fresh coolant, oil/filter, air filter, plugs and leads have been fitted.

Any ideas/help would be appreciated

The fuel pump is electric and is under the rear seat.
when you turn the key you should hear it prime and spin. These usually fail as they are lubricated by the fuel in the tank. When the fuel gets low, the pumps wear.... stupid invention!
