Hello all,

I own a 3 Series F30, 190BHP 66 Plate. I am more than happy with the speed of the car and what not as its only my second car lol!

however, I have come across some people mentioning exhaust tips being beneficial for making a nicer sound to the car. I have also seen some people say that there is no benefits or sound difference to the exhaust.

does anyone use these universal exhaust tips, and if so, what type are good and where’s the best place to get them?

I am new to the forum and this is my first post. That in conjunction with being very limited in car knowledge is why I am asking, so go easy on me lol! Thanks folks

Think about it logically the car manufacturers and exhaust specialists spend time and a not inconsiderable amount of money to achieve an efficient system. The OEM exhaust is a compromise between efficiency, sound and cost so can often be improved, however to do this you will have to change significant sections or all of the exhaust.

Just changing a shiny piece around the end won't do it and will often always look like an add on, plus in engineering terms adding a cosmetic tip will make no difference to resonance or gas flow. If you want shiny trims BMW sell them and they will look right for your car.

Remember these guys are selling a product, they are going to make all sorts of claims and in this modern world put all sorts of testimonials on their add's and websites, they are after your hard earned.

Appreciate you getting back to me mate! I figured it would be a useless add on lol. There are many conflicting things online with the crazy claims Just like you have mentioned. Will stay away from the exhaust tips. Will stick to other cosmetic additions for now. Thanks again mate!
