E90 rodent nest/wire damage rear shock tower

Hi,

We had the ABS, DSC, brake pad replacement lights come on and tracked it down to rodent nests in the rear shock tower. There were wires short circuited due to insulation being eaten off and one broken wire. Here are some pictures. We fixed the broken wire by soldering it and covered the stripped insulation with electrical tape.

The vehicle is usually parked in a very old former carriage house garage and not driven much during the winter. I plan on taking off the wheel liner once a year to check for further nests and put some sort of rodent barrier around the car when parked for a long time.

I hope this helps someone.

Bisham
