Hi guys.

First just wanted to introduce myself as a first time BMW owner and car but lol. But in desperate need of help.

I have a 10 plate 1 series m sport coupe 2.0 automatic and have diagnosed a timing chain issue, the chain is still complete but sounds like it's rattling bought a full timing chain kit but can't find the right manual to use as a cheat sheet. I'm not a novice as to working on cars but the beemer has thrown me a bit as never dealt with a chain system. .

Can anyone help me with this. Step by step, dos and don'ts etc.

On idle the car is running about 1000rpm so know that my timing is now out, no misfire, still got plenty of oil, I also have all parts that I'm aware of, chain kit, rocker gasket, sump gasket. If I'm missing anything please say.

Sorry to here of your issues, for help take a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin Number in the search box it will bring up your model. This site is and online Parts List with part numbers so you will know you have the correct parts. Then look at www.newtis.info this is an online Technical Information site, BMW Dealers use this information so you should find what you need there.

As an aside if the chain guides have broken up make sure that the sump is clear of any debris when the guides broke up on my M62 they clogged the oil pickup,the oil pump seized and you can guess tha outcome to that !!
