Hello Peeps.

Following a shortish journey today (10 miles), I noticed the electric cooling fan running after I turned the engine off. It ran for 3/4 minutes.

Temp was showing as normal in the car and it was around 6.5 degrees outside, so not hot.

It’s the first time I have had this, even on far longer journeys and in far hotter temps.

Coolant level is normal.

Thanks

+2 DPF regen had warmed things up.

I've had this happen a couple of times in 50,000 odd miles.

My Focus 110 diesel did it most days, but I DID enjoy driving that.

Now come on Donald who could possibly think a "SuzukiBoy" would drive fast enough to get enough heat in there to cause a regen cycle 😈

?? Angry?

So the fact the fan was running indicates regen was done, or was in progress? I must admit I never feel it happening although when it doesn’t my car is definitely more sluggish for it. I too had a Focus diesel. It was never a problem and I never experienced any drop in performance like my BMW shows. Funny thing is, BMW does precisely the same journeys the Focus did. I accept though the lump is bigger and therefore takes longer to warm up.

My driving is not ideally suited to diesel, if I were honest. Too many 14/15 mile short trips. What’s your thoughts on something like this?
