Hello

I have a 2017 Reg BMW X3

Parking sensor keep bleeping when it rains even though there is nothing in proximity (see photo)

I took it to BMW and they say there are no faults logged and there is no active fault so they cannot do anything about it.

I complained to BMW customer service and they say the same.

They don't accept the photo as evidence of the problem.

What do I do? I'm thinking of taking them to court

Frustrating aren't they ? BMW firmly believe if it isn't there when they look it can't exist? My X5 hates wet weather always has the sensors go on strike in the wet or after a car wash but I can turn mine off and just use the reverse camera.

I assume when you are driving in heavy spray or rain that triggers them?

  • 1 month later...

I had similar on an older Merc witth sensors as after market fit.

Probem was rain shorting wires at rear of bumper, suggest spraying with WD40 if accessible.

Good luck!

Phil

Unfortunately you are running a car and using a franchise service that can only fix fault codes.

This is the modern way, and probably little different to other makes. I too would be disappointed with BMW UK's standpoint. But I wouldn't be surprised.

Cars will only become more complex with the passing of time and what we experience now with these annoyances are probably nothing compared to what's coming.

Anyone fancy a 1980's 3 series. Not that we'll be able to drive them anywhere because they'll be banned or taxed out of existence.

Upt'North. ☹️

I'd be more annoyed at the dust 😉

The sensors are very sensitive for obvious reasons.

I live in Scotland.... Very wet place, it happens on my X3 every now and then , which i find is when the car is dirty.
