Hi all, New member here, just in the process of buying a 320d Sport Plus 2011, auto.

Any known faults I should be aware of?

Thanks

Hi Carl

Service history as ever is paramount with any used car, there were some well documented timing chain issues with the 2.0d engine but I believe BMW have issued an enhancement notice for a timing chain upgrade. Could be worth checking if the car your considering has been done?

I am a petrol driver so other than that not much help, Good Luck

Dave

Hi Carl....welcome to the Forum

Good luck with the purchase, would only advise that there is a decent service history with the car and that any revisions have been carried out over time.

Good to have you onboard and post up some pics of the new Bimmer when you get it.

Cheers .   Trevor

Like to say Hello ! to everybody as a newbie !

I’ve recently bought a 323i. 2007 Auto with a genuine 7000 miles on the clock .( Import from Japan ).  Can’t believe the condition as it looks and drives like a new car.  Having had a Rover 75 for 15 yrs , I find the 323i a hard ride and  with run flat tyres it’s mutch more marked . Also I notice the steering is heavier at low speed than I expected . There is a noticeable stiction , tendency to stay where you put it ,under 20 mph which I’m sure is not normal. ?   Wondered if there is any history of powered steering problems or tight ball joints for example ?  Advice on tyre pressures running solo would also be appreciated .!

John .

Hi John....welcome to the Forum

Wow!  7000 miles on a 2007 car, that's a hell of a find.

I'm sure it just needs driving around to loosen everything up after doing such low miles.

Although the tyre pressures may lighten things up if inflated a little higher?

Thanks Trevor !

i had thought of that, but then I’m going to make the ride harder ?  As you say more use should help and if no improvement I’ll get my mechanic friend to disconnect the track rod ends and see if there’s any stiffness anywhere. ?
