Hi guys,

I have just purchased a E38 740i and noticed that the rear passenger (driver side) foot well is soaking wet.

Im assuming one of the drain ways is blocked but not sure where they are....

Thanks

Check the door seals first...

The drain channels run from the rear of the sunroof and down the back "C" pillars, can't remember whether they appear near the boot hinges or back lights !

Run a long stiffish wire through them ;)

Worth looking into the windscreen drainage

At the bottom of the windscreen, the wiper area, to stop water flowing down into the engine bay there should be channels under the wiper assembly cover. If that blocks up it will back up into the cabin. Recently had a Mercedes c-Klasse with the EXACT same problem. Theory should apply to your 7er

Good luck

Daz

It will be the sunroof drainers Daz, Common issue ;)

Thanks guys, was just thinking though, if it was the sunroof drians, would the headliner not be wet, as it's bone dry?

Nah, depends WHERE it's coming from. Drains travel all the way down so leak may be before before outlet, after headlining
