My Mini needs a new receiver for the remote locking. I have purchased a device but I cannot find the location of the original unit. Have looked in headlining above rear view mirror, in the footwell on the drivers side and again in the boot under the courtesy light. I have asked BMW Uk but they seem hopeless and referred me to a web site asking for 50 euros before i even start. Local dealer said needs car in to trace unit ( eh?) which then means they charge me for labour to find it, plus labour to fit it.

Have had the car in bits over such a small item which is driving me mad. Found the club today and joined hoping a member could advise me, seems a common enough problem on forums so surprised it appears a mystery.

Any help will be appreciated. Car is Mini One 54 plate built Nov 04.

Found this on another site. Hope it helps.

remove the rear view mirror - it just twists out of its mount - the receiver
should be attached to the inside of the roof above the windscreen just to the
right of where the rear view mirror mount is.

ps - a quick thought - check your actual mirror once you have
removed it - if a later larger style mirror has been fitted by the previous
owner the receiver is sitting inside the mirror mount.
