Hi all, had a look for the answer but no luck...if anyone can help or point me in the right direction would be grateful.

I've fitted small amp and sub in boot of my 2000 e39 540i

Ran the audio line from the left rear speaker and fitted a switch as couldnt locate a remote.

It all powers up fine (head unit, amp etc) but nothing coming out of any of the speakers, i've checked head unit fuse and its ok and head unit is definitely on.

any ideas?

thanks

Joe

Im sure someone will be able to advise on this, im not very good when it comes to audio advice im afraid.

Is there another fuse for the amp that is separate from the head unit fuse?

Are the head-unit and amp connected together? I know that was a daft question

I just recently had an active subwoofer fitted by a car audio specialist and he had a similar problem.

He wired the sub into my rear speakers. (If that helps) Everything fired up fine but when he switched it off and back on again, no sound would come out from the speakers or vice versa.

He would then have to unplug and plug in the sub again for it to work or something along them lines.

He then tried a "different configuration" and wired it differently, and it works like a charm now!

Apart from my boot lid was rattling itself to death!! I've improved it a lot since then though. :D

I'm sorry that I can't provide any in depth detail into how it was resolved :( Hopefully you would have had it sorted by now :)

Which sub and amp did you get by the way? and is it any good? (Assuming it's working now haha)

Richard :)

All that is required is...

1- the amp has power

2- The output from HeadUnit via phono to amp

3- Output from amp to speakers

Am I wrong?
