hi all when I went to start my car this morning the battery was dead tried to open boot with key but lock is not turning anyone got any clue to why this is happening? thanks

has the key worn down?have you tried another key?spray some wd40 into the lock and try again

hi mart thanks for the advice unfortunately I only have one key and wd40 didn't help.

If the lock is seized and you can't enter through rear seats then then number plate has to come off and a hole drilled to manipulate the actuator rod !

Might be worth getting some of this from Hellfords. Fire tones of it into the mechanism and give the keyhole (Should be a chrome push in one on the E36) a good whack with maybe a rubber mallet. (Careful not to miss haha)

thanks guys thankfully I can get inside the boot from the back seats so no drilling required lol !! I will give that shock/unlock spray a bash though

You'll need to yank the trim off from inside to get to the actuator but see the smile when it pops open B)
