  3. Morning Ross I would start by checking that all injectors are OK, seated properly and fixed down at the correct torque. If there are no injector or glow plug issues then the valve train needs investigation could be a lifter sticking or a Vanos issue. Dave

  5. Has anyone else had this no sound problem recently ?
  6. I have exactly the same problem BMW say it is due water getting ito the amplifier which needs replacing £1800 The problem is it looks like a designe fault which they wont admit to, so it will happen to the new amp
  7. Hi, I have this knocking noise on the top of the engine. It started with a low knocking sound then it got progressively worse until I stopped and got recovered. New top turbo 3k miles ago and fresh oil change. Car seems to be all working fine apart from the aggressive knocking. Any ideas? 2013 x5 40d 110k on the clock. IMG_6024.mov
  8. You haven't given much away here ? But Welcome to the Forum anyway I know there have been a number of recalls since 2020, here I am assuming (dangerous) that all yours are up to date ? I have read of several incidents of SME faults 21F21F seems one of the most common with PHEV. Why BMW seem to deny there are issues I just don't understand. Check the US sites they may have more information due to Class Actions in the USA manufacturers tend to move faster with fixes and Recalls Good Luck Dave
  9. Morning Shawn Take a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box, it will call up your model then search the Body and Trim sections You should find what you need there, once you have the part and it's part number then you can search for the best price for a replacement Dave
  10. Can you guys tell me the best place to order a lower window cowl molding for a 2013 BMW 320i? Mine is super dry rotted and I’m getting water in my driver’s side floor board. I checked the sunroof water tubes and they seem to work well. I also ran water on the outside of drivers door to see if it was the door vapor barrier but didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. The cowl is the only obvious thing that looks bad.
  11. Anyone having major issues with their PHEV x5 SME issues causing major faults BMW say all is good be interested to know if this is a one off or a major manufacturer issue
  12. Hi Paul Carpets are a "Touch and Feel" purchase in my mind for my wife's Subaru I had a local Carpet fitter make up a set. He did a great job all edges taped and stitched and the non slip pads on the back he was able to get the car mats out of off cuts (Contract quality Wilton in Beige). He charged around half the cost of Subaru direct might be worth tracking down a fitter and asking Another thought are Guys like Quarry Motors but again you would be buying unseen but at least they know what OEM BMW mats are. Dave
  13. Can anyone advise on best place to obtain new full pile replacement mats for my E64. Just had a bad experience on ebay so they are going back, totally missold. Just need a nice set in black with the velcro pads already fitted as per BMW spec.
  14. S24 Ultra is QI charging compatible (which I belive the factory fitted OEM charging tray is) I have a QI wireless charger in the house for it. Like I say I get a Blue LED when I put the phone it the tray, but doesn't seem to want to charge, will borrow a friend's phone and try that. Thanks
  15. Hi Guys I have an E92 330d with 150k on I’m having the swirl flaps deleted and it’s booked in for a gearbox service next month, other than regular servicing is there anything else I should be doing (preventative or otherwise) thanks Daz.
  16. Morning Hans If the fault is EWS or CAS related I think you need to read up on resetting/resyncing the Key/EWS/CAS or if your diagnostics are up to it re-programming them. As you have a donor nearby maybe take the EWS and Keys ? Fingers crossed it is fairly simple and a reset works Dave
  17. Morning Rich First is the wireless charger OEM or aftermarket ? Second is your phone compatible with the charger? (it seems not) I only know 1 person (our son inlaw) who uses wireless charging he is an Apple user and the system in his 3 series is OEM he has no issues Dave
  18. Morning Shawn Welcome to the Forum Lucky son 😁 Even Dealers technicians (they don't call them mechanics anymore so they can charge more 🤣) can be clumsy rock apes at times. With the Xdrive cars correct sized tyres are essential to protect the Xdrive transfer case, diffs etc Hope your boy appreciates his car Dave
  19. Morning Rich Welcome to the Forum Enjoy your Beemer If I am right your model was in a change over period so could be G21 or F31. If you look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model. The site is a BMW parts site as used by Dealers so really useful if buying parts and seeing where they fit. Again you can use a BMW Vin Decoder to check your cars original build sheet. Hope this is helpful Dave
  20. I’m new to the forum as well as to BMW automobiles in general. I just purchased a 2013 BMW 320i Xdrive with just under 57,000 miles for my son as his first car. Looking at service records the timing chain, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, brakes, and rotors were replaced around 45,000 miles. Are there any common issues these cars tend to have that I need to be aware of? The only thing I’ve found is one of the reverse light housings is broken on the side next to the tail light. A common problem if you don’t remove the housing correctly from what I’ve read. Feel free to give me any advice or info I may need to know.
  21. Good morning Dave Thanks for the reply, towing it isn't in my best interest I would like to get it running. And the parts car runs it just has no title which is why it's a part out car, which is good for me. I did a little research on the ews immobilizer code I got and that seems to be where my problem lies. Considering it ran one minute and not the next, and it's the code it's throwing. As both fuel and spark systems stopped working. I will check all the sensors as well I know bmws can be weird if they aren't getting signals from maf or others. My 135i was a similar case to this one and it was just a maf sensor. I opened the Schrader valve and tested fuel pressure it had plenty of pressure and flow. I don't know why that would knock out spark too though. I'm just not really sure how to fix the ews fault there isn't a ton of support for this car. I had a hard time even finding a fuse diagram. I am going this Friday to try again so any help with fixing that code would also be appreciated. Thanks
  22. My 320d has wireless charging, however my s24 ultra doesn't seem to like it I have had a "phone too hot remove from charger" error (from the phone) once or it simply does seem to get much of a charge. The LED goes blue when I put it in the tray. Advice appreciated. Rich
  23. Hi All, Just purchased a 320d M Sport Xdrive Touring 2019 40,000 miles. £25k. Really liking the car, I was trying to get A4 Avant Quattro but struggling to find one I liked/right price. Tried the 320 and decided to go for it, purchased from main dealer so probably paid over the odds but at least it's fresh MOT and serviced with one year warranty and free boot liner and dog guard thrown in. But cheesed off they didn't top up AdBlue or fit the dog guard properly. Two quick questions: Is my model G21? Do they still do/where would I find the sticker that lists the options the car comes with (in my old Golf it was in the spare wheel well)? Cheers Rich
  24. Afternoon Darren Just your BMW telling you that you needed a Dealers help 😅 Or hoping to scare you into their arms Try a Parking Brake reset, as you only changed pads a Soft Reset should work Turn on the ignition. Hold down the parking sensor button for 3-5 seconds until you hear a beep. Release the button, and the system will reset Hope that does it for you Dave
  25. Morning Hans Having a Parts car close by is a major win (providing it hasn't got the same issue 😁) The rev counter gets a signal from the DDE which gets signals from the CPS FPS and Cam sensors the sensor only needs to be loose or a degree out, Test it and or change it (but test the replacement first) As you're so far away I would either get the car transported (my preference), or go ready for anything. That means at least 1 fully charged battery/booster pack. Start with a full scan (INPA/ISTA will show all faults for each system) check all sensors MAF, MAP, TBPS, FPS, CPS. Cam sensors test continuity on the loom for coil packs and injectors. Check/change the fuel pump relay. From your description you say no fuel or spark, all the above will have an effect there. If all those are OK then you are back to the Hope this helps Dave As an after thought make sure the fuel filter isn't clogged. Plus check out the EWS fault you half saw
  26. Thanks for the reply Dave. This car is over 5 hours away from me so thr next trip I make needs to be the one I take it home haha. The obf2 I'm using is an mhd tuner off of my 135i with protool. I got it to connect once but stupidly disconnected it. The only code it was throwing was a immobilizer I don't remember which one. Also the conditions of the car breaking down were while driving happened 3 times than didn't start again, at least that's what I was told. So my assumption was a bmw system that controlled efi and spark ignition. As far as the cps if I was reading rpm while cranking would that not rule it out. It also did not throw a code for it when I had it connected. But I couldn't read actual position data since i couldn't connect. The owner replaced the fuel pump in an attempt to get it running so I know the pressure us there but there is absolutely no fuel coming out the cylinders or onto spark plugs. I luckily found a complete part out car 10 miles away from it. So a list of potential problems I could try would be much appreciated. Thanks Hans
