  4. Well when the bag went boom it really did go BOOM Both sides changed sensors changed solenoid vale changed then the monsoon arrived 🤣 knew I should have done it in the garage Still just got to fire up ISTA tomorrow and register the new sensors and calibrate the suspension ride height
  5. Putting the boxes in the garage and visiting Wetherspoons? …. Then using it as an excuse to miss the family event? …. No? Just me then! Haha

  10. Morning Welcome to the Forum Are you wanting to upgrade all 4 callipers or just the fronts ? Is the reason for upgrade performance related or for show ? Upgrading Callipers, first check what brake disc sizes are standard on your car as you may need to consider Disc's and Callipers together. If replacing Discs and Callipers make sure you have clearance in the wheel to clear your new brakes so you may also need Wheels/Tyres you can check www.realoem.com for what original equipment is on your car and what was available for say M Sport or M series cars Dave
  11. Morning, Update 1 Lots of digging both ride height sensors test out correctly compressor is fine the only thing in my digging testing head scratching and reading is the Solenoid Valve on the compressor. Although the solenoid valve tests OK my conclusion is one side has been sticking and not allowing the lowering/levelling function. Course of action now is 2 new air springs 2 new ride height sensors and a new solenoid valve block, once fitted inflated leak tested and calibrated things should be good again Dave
  12. BMW Group Classic publishes digital historical model overviews for use by the general public and supplements the recently revised BMW Group Online Archive with a comprehensive historical online product catalog of the BMW, Mini and BMW Motorrad brands. First, the historic model overviews of the Mini and BMW Motorrad brands were made available to the general public in 2021. The historical model overview of the BMW brand is now also available online. This research tool is available for media, enthusiasts and fans at https://www.bmwgroup-classic.com/en/history/historic-modeloverview-bmw.html. 424 BMW models are available there. The BMW product range includes all series vehicles from the BMW 3/15 hp model to the BMW 3 Series (E46), including BMW Z4 (E85/E86). A total period of 80 years (1928 to 2008) was prepared. The historical model overviews of the Mini and BMW Motorrad brands round off the online research offering. In all brand areas, there are overviews of all classic vehicles with short and informative texts on model series, body variants and engines. These are enriched with current images from the BMW Group Classic vehicle collection and the historic BMW media archive. For this purpose, 614 data sets and 524 images were processed. During the design, emphasis was placed on the future viability of the tool. The historical model overviews can be extended with future vehicle generations. Anyone who would like to delve even deeper into BMW Group cars and other topics related to BMW Group corporate history can do so under further links to the BMW Group Classic online archive, revised in 2024. For example, publications (brochures, workshop literature, on-board literature, etc.) and specialist books can also be found there. Katrin Gfrörer, Head of BMW Group Archives and Historic Vehicle Collection: “By making our complete historical model overviews available online, we meet a high external demand for historical product information that has existed for many years and maximizes customer satisfaction with another digital tool. In addition, most of the database in our online archive is publicly available on the BMW Group Archive website and can be used for information and research purposes. These measures impressively underline BMW Group Classic's digitization strategy." You can access the historical model overviews and the BMW Group Archive under the following links. Hist. 13.
  14. Morning Germaine Welcome to the Forum Your post raises more questions than advice I am afraid 1. How many miles has the car covered 2. What type of journeys short local less than 5 miles or Motorway 3. When was the car last serviced ? Then we may have some clues to help you Dave
  15. Sounds like the sensor is giving false information… not showing a fault, just wrong data. change the sensors as well as the airbags. have a good week mate.. that will keep you busy!
  16. …. Mine’s just passed the MOT! 😂😂😂
  17. Well I was feeling smug as the X has been running so well but it must have been talking to Stu's 😁 Wednesday the passenger rear suspension decided to inflate to the max 5" higher than the drivers side had to drive home but because the cassis is being twisted it begins to rapidly wear the inside edge of the passenger rear and the outside edge of the drivers front !! New tyres are booked anyway but could do without this. Get home OK next morning plug in and using ISTA look for issues a few I knew of (Glow plug controller and rear fog light) but no air suspension errors darn. Ride height sensors tested OK Compressor OK Control Unit OK ?? So into the diagnostic's program and calibrate and reset the ride height. Then an hour ago it did it again passenger side to the max but this time the airbag gave up and burst. Looks like I have a fun week ahead first find out why ? Then replace the airbags and reset everything again maybe change the ride height sensor as a precaution Update later Dave
  18. Can I upgrade my brake callipers and what do I need to do

  21. Morning Peter Welcome to the Forum The only thought I have is you have an Analogue Dash (fixed Clocks) and you have seen cars with Digital Dash panels ? To go the BMW OEM route I think would be expensive to say the least £££ I have read of a company in the UK who have developed Digital Dash retrofit kits called Demonized UK. From what I have read they are very good though I have never seen one or used them may be worth a Google search Nice Motor by the way ENJOY Dave
  22. I have just purchased a x6m50d which is absolutely lovely. I noticed on few other cars the same as mine that the clocks are a different display? Can I change the look of the clocks. Someone said that you can download an app which will give you different clocks and also make the ambient lighting brighter in the car is this correct. Thank you Leter
  23. Morning Michael Only one thing to say really ENJOY Dave
  24. Morning all after having a M135i xdrive for nearly 5 years I decided to have a change and get myself a 520d touring xdrive 2021. Cant compare the two together as both totally different but great cars.
  25. Hi guys. My son has a 2002 E39 530i Sport which needs some remedial work to remove rust off the sills. Can anyone recommend a good body shop in south London, preferably a BMW specialist?
  26. Hi Brandon. first things first. Change the wheel for the spare.. if it stops, it’s the wheel. Next, check the wheel alignment. Then check for uneven wear across the tyre. You might have bent a suspension component. Check to see if a spring has broken?
  27. Thanks a million! I will look into this
  28. Hi John Welcome to the Forum The most common cause for the DTC/DSC warning is a failed ABS wheel sensor or a Fault with the ABS unit possibly a fault with the Steering angle sensor. A Diagnostic Scan with a BMW capable scanner would verify the issue, if it is a wheel sensor it is a straight forward change if an ABS unit there are several repair companies in the UK who repair them far cheaper than a new unit. Dave
  29. Dear All, To get my 740L through the Swiss MOT I need to stop the warning that DTC is not available, every time I power up. If the warning doesn't come up, I can get it through. If not, my garage says it will not be accepted. They tried to get a replacement for the steering wheel insert, but failed. Can anybody tell me if there is a way simply to stop that warning coming up? Thanks a lot! Best, John
  30. Hi Eduan Welcome to the Forum First place to check is Sub Frame mounting Bushes, on a 19 year old car they will be tired. In Order to check rear suspension bushes the Air suspension has to be deflated not a difficult task but essential. Again I would expect a 19 year old car to have a lot of wear and is probably in need of a refresh. Tip if refreshing the suspension get new camber bolts for adjustment mark the old ones position with a bit of Tippex so it all goes back as original. If the suspension is good then drive shafts, diff, Propshaft are next for checking Dave
