  2. Can anyone explain to me what they are talking about when saying about welcome lighting and ambient please
  3. Just had a reply from BMW uk Hello Paul Thanks for contacting the BMW Customer Information Team regarding the lights on the door handles and glovebox. I understand how frustrating this is. I’ve checked your vehicle’s factory specification against the VIN you provided. The exterior door handle lighting and glovebox illumination are not part of the standard equipment on your M135 (F70) build. The illuminated door handles only operate when the car is ordered with the Welcome Light/Ambient Lighting package, which was not specified on your vehicle. Likewise, BMW no longer fits glovebox lights as standard on this model. If you would like further confirmation or to discuss retrofit options, we recommend contacting your BMW Centre directly. You can find the nearest BMW Centre here. In the meantime, if there's anything else I can do for you, please let me know. 4. Morning Arfan Welcome to the Forum Some questions, 1. if you rev the engine what happens ? 2. how many miles has the car covered ? 3. when was the gearbox serviced ? It could be that the box is holding a higher gear so a 25mph is showing idle speed as the box warms up it changes. A Diagnostic scan would help understand what's happening Dave
  5. Morning Paul If you know someone who has INPA/ISTA just plug in and the program will let you know what equipment the car was built with (list and codes) your dealer could do it but it sounds like yours falls into the "can't be bothered to help a customer" category You could also use a BMW Vin Decoder several online to pull up the same information I must say I thought pretty much all top of the range Beemers had them so worth a search Dave

  7. Hi, I am new here and Iwas wondering if anyone can help please.. I have a 2009 bmw 730d auto on 92k miles. Just noticed when the car is driven on a cold start, for the first 5 minutes or so when accelerating the rev gauge goes up as it should, and the auto box changes gears as normal. However, when I take foot off the accelerator the rev gauge comes fully down as though the car is stationary in idle. After 5 minutes driving the rev gauge remains higher as it should going through the auto gears. When the rev gauge comes down, the car still drives fine, doesn't stall, no error messages. Is it normal for rev gauge to come down to idle, when you take foot off accelerator, for the first 5 minutes of driving in cold. When the car is warm the rev gauge stays where is should higher than idle. You can see from screenshot I am nearly doing 25 mph, my foot is off accelerator, the rev gauge is on idle (under 1) when in fact when the car is warm and driving at 25mpg the rev gauge is at 1 and half. Many thanks

  9. Hi Dave. I’ve been on to my dealer and they can’t confirm if they do or don’t have them. I’ve seen plenty with them with a lower spec than mine so I’m disappointed really. No glovebox light either. £50k and only half the bits are there.
  10. Hi Paul Welcome to the Forum As your car is basically new have you had a conversation with your BMW Dealer ? Normally the door lights are as tough as old boots, my X5 2009 vintage has them and they all still work (that's jinxed them) Dave
  11. Morning Annette Welcome to the Forum I would ask who the Warranty is with? or is it just from the supplying Garage ? I would be talking to them about the sale of goods act as the the car is "not Suitable for purpose" in it's current condition, Get tough with them. I am not sure which engine you have so just checked www.realoem.com BMW online parts list the 2.0d inlet manifold complete with new gaskets is available from several sources for less that £100 so £1350 is taking the proverbial even for a BMW Dealer Check yourself on realoem just put the last 7 digits of your Vin number into the search box Good Luck Dave
  12. Hi guys I’m new here having just purchased my first ever bmw. I have the lights in the exterior handles but they don’t work. Anyone else have this issue ??

  16. Hi I have a problem I had a message come up on the screen saying drivetrain issue can continue journey check with service provider. Iv had a diagnostic and shows it’s a swirl flap problem. A lever at side of the as popped off and won’t stay on. Iv been quoted £1353 to be fixed and the warranty won’t cover it only had the car 35 days. Any advice on blanking it off
  17. Morning Jessica Welcome to the Forum There are many sellers on line how ever make sure that who ever you buy from they will give Technical support. I brought my first copy of INPA many years ago (late 90's maybe early 2000's) then upgraded to ISTA 2006 then last year upgraded to the latest version of ISTA all my copies were supplied by DJWW Auto Diagnostics he is UK based and will give 100% back up and support. An internet search will find him I am sure Good Luck Dave
  18. Morning Ged Welcome to the Forum As your car is so young (possibly still under Warranty) what is BMW's response ? I would be having strong words in writing with the Dealer (copies to BMW Customer Services) as failing lights make the car Unsuitable for purpose. Under the sale of goods act you could return the car and ask for all monies back. Good Luck let us know what happens Dave

  24. Has any had problems with the head lights failing with condensation , my I have failed twice now
  25. Morning Lou Welcome to the Forum Your hand book for the car will indicate where the recommended jacking points are. If you are using a trolley Jack there is a reinforced lifting point at the front of the the front subframe, or under the Diff at the rear then place axel stands under the cars jacking points. It goes without saying the car should be on a solid level base with wheel not being lifted chocked to prevent any movement. Dave
  26. Morning Graham Welcome to the Forum You say you changed the Headlamp did you change for a "new" or "used" unit if used is it correct for your car ? If you are not aware you can check www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box the search lights Realoem will also have small exploded drawings showing how bits fit together Dave
  27. Hi, I have just replaced one of my headlights in my F21 118i 2016 and when I have tried them the colour is a different hue, I changed the ballast and modules from the broken light, how would I go about getting them to match, is it bulbs that would need changed or the lens/diffuser on the angel eyes, could I replace anything else from the broken light without removing the lens? Thanks for any help

  29. Hi, it could be a wheel bearing or the wheel arch lining could have come off.. a suspension or broken spring issue would make a banging noise when the steering wheel is moved. Does it only make the noise when the car is moving?
  30. Do I have this listed in the wrong spot?
  31. Hi,wife's 128ti has just started making a rumbling/grating sound when turning right at slow speed out of the drive. Local BMW garage cant look at it until next week so sitting in the drive as she's too frightened to use it. Female receptionist at garage said It sounds like a suspension arm!!! Anyone come acrossa problem like this or similar ? Thanks.

  35. Thanks Dave I will recheck my realoem and the classics section just in case I missed something
  36. I agree with Dave, back in the day most alarms were retrofit and Hella being an independent company supplying electrical relays and associated switches to fit to Baur and other styling houses of the era. I would be tempted to track the wires individually to see where they go to - I would imagine one or two would go to the starter motor and ignition switch / coil, etc Let us know how you get on with it all
  37. Morning Paul Wow that stirs the old grey matter I take it your familiar with www.realoem.com check the Classic section or BMW have a Classic section try their Customer services (I am told they can be slow) If I recall alarms were not a standard fitting back then so you may find Baur fitted it when they retrimmed the car Maybe a question to Baur in Stuttgart I am sure they will have an Archive Good Luck Dave
