  2. Morning Jordan Welcome to the Forum The code your seeing is in my experience normally tied to 3 suspects (1) Battery, make sure the battery is fully charged and in good health. Engine off test the voltage at the charging points under the bonnet anything below 12.5v would indicate a problem. Engine running test again you should see 14.5+v (alternator good) (2) Steering angle sensor, these don't often fail but not impossible, driving forwards turning lock to lock normally resets and clears it. (3) Transfer case fault, Again normally robust but the poor old Gearbox and Transfer case are often ignored (even by Dealers) and not serviced. So check for any signs of leaks changing the Transfer case fluid is straight forward just make sure it is correct for your car (tip always make sure you can undo the Fill plug before draining, seen two where folks drained and then couldn't refill). Also when stopping listen for clicking noises under the drivers seat in some cases the nylon activation gear can wear/strip and may need replacing (plenty of "how too's" on the net So I would start with simple stuff, Battery first then clear the codes and check again you may need the help of someone with a Diagnostic program to clear faults i the memory. If the Battery is the culprit then just changing it should clear the faults and lock to lock reset the steering angle sensor. Fingers crossed its a cheap easy fix Dave
  3. Hi Dave , thx for replying, it all works heater blows and heater emblem appears flashing, however the heaters does not get hot the X1 I had did a great job , I know she has had a recall for starting motor and she does need a software update , would that cure it ? Thank you Steve
  4. Morning Mathew I guess we know what you would like for Christmas 😅 I would contact the Kit makers to either speak with them or get some Idea of what is involved. If your taking off Door Cards etc to connect the lighting I would do the speakers (so you don't end up with that wish I had done that feeling) You will need access to a Diagnostic program that has programming capability so that it is registered on your iDrive then if you have Carplay I would think it should work from your phone Good Luck Dave
  5. Morning Stephen Welcome to the Forum Not sure what your asking here ? I was not aware your model had the function try using a BMW Vin decoder to get the original build sheet for your car that may help Dave

  7. Morning Mathew Only if your car is Left Hand Drive 😅 Dave
  8. Morning Ian Welcome to the Forum Bit early but I will get my thinking hat on ( I am a retired Engineer born with a need to know how and why things work) , sadly it seems you have a Tech working on your car not a Mechanic. The difference is a Tech will believe the Codes shown and change parts as indicated, a good Mechanic will see codes as a symptom and look for the cause. Code 24CF00 is related to the MAF the question is what triggered it ? Was it an air leak have all the Air and Vac lines been checked ? You say the swirl flaps have been removed? when the Inlet manifold was replaced were the gaskets renewed? You also say the EGR was replaced under Recall was it the EGR or the EGR Cooler ? The next 2 Codes are related to exhaust pressure 28EC00 is the pressure sensor upstream of the Turbo 2AB600 is exhaust back pressure. Both sensors can be tested if they are OK then I would look for a blockage in the exhaust/EGR recirculation system (EGR hoses can get clogged with soot) Just because your running at motorway speed doesn't mean a Regen cycle has been triggered. The exhaust has to reach certain temperatures for a regen cycle to occur it can be triggered by software. If you have a Regen cycle the re will be a noticeable amount of smoke and you will notice the fan running more Sorry if this raises more questions than answers, but from your description the Garage you are using seem to be plugging in Diagnostics and changing parts not testing and checking for the cause. This is why I DIY my own repairs unless it's something that needs heavy Garage equipment Dave
  9. I just got my 2023 BMW G21 M-Sport Touring (LHD), and unfortunately, it didn’t come with factory ambient lighting — really unlucky! 😅 Most 2023 G21s seem to have it, but mine doesn’t, and my i-Drive menu doesn’t even show the interior lighting app. I’ve been looking into the CarAktis ambient light kit and it seems like I’ll need their OBD tool to enable control through the car’s i-Drive. I’m curious about how it all works — is there a cable pre-installed in the car to connect the kit? Does the kit come with detailed instructions for wiring and where to drill holes in the door covers? Also wondering if it’s better to install the speaker lighting at the same time. From what I understand, the OBD tool is controlled via an app — I hope it works with iPhone! I’m hoping this will finally give my cabin that premium ambient lighting vibe. Anyone else done this on a 2023 G21?
  10. The OBD port is next to your left foot on the driver side.
  11. Hi, purchased a 2008 x5, this error is on dash, i have had it plugged in and comes up under vtg - 55c3 - awd limp home control activated-no dsc specified nomina torque, garage seem to think servo cause when they told it to do something it didn’t basically. Has anyone got any advice on how to DIY diagnose without paying a garage an arm and a leg, i have read about turning left to right will try tomorrow however most other advice ive seen is when other errors exist. Thanks

  15. I have a 1 series 2016 118d M Sport with fault codes 28EC00 ,2AB600 and 24CF00 . I’ve changed the MAF sensor with a genuine BMW part but still get these faults. My daily commute to work is 35 miles at 70mph so I think the DPF would get burnt up every day. Local specialist isn’t filling me confidence as just keep changing parts. So far swirl flaps been deleted and mapped out, EGR replaced under recall, DPF temp sensor replaced as has the MAF. They now want to blank and remap the EGR but I’m not convinced. Anyone got any experience of these faults and what to look into please.TIA Regards Ian

  18. Hi there , in west Berkshire , just outside reading .
  19. Have a 2025 F74 223 x Drive M Sport Gran Coupe. Unfortunately where I live is extremely muddy and the front and rear wings/ underside are getting plastered in bad weather. Anybody found a set of mudflaps dedicated to this car in terms of fitting? BMW have not produced any yet. Not that keen on mudflaps but looking to protect the paintwork. Car is black as was previous BMW so not that noticeable when on.
  20. Welcome James. Enjoy the new motor. We are a knowledgeable and friendly bunch here, so feel free to ask questions and make some friends. Where in the world are you? Stu.

  24. Hi James I have talked to a friend in BMW who tells me the Ambient Lighting package did not become available until 2018 for 3 series models so the probability is yours does not have it. It can be retrofitted and coded to your car, but I have no idea how much work that would entail Good Luck Dave
  25. Hi Glenn I tend to use Quarry Motors they are very knowledgeable and helpful (also been around for years) try Googling BMW Breakers that may work If not put the part number into an Ebay Search see if that brings results Good Hunting Dave
  26. Thanks for responding Dave. I have the part number and have started down the breakers route. Is the Register of BMW Dismantlers a thing? Could you point me in the right direction or send me a link please? I’ve Googled it but no obvious success.
  27. It may be that the power is not connected correctly. Generally, on BMW vehicles, the power connection is located near the center control knob.
  28. Hi Ian A good Auto Electrician would I suspect have Diagnostic software or search the Register of BMW Specialists there should be a few close to you and they will have all the Tech, I bet a few phone calls will get what you need Dave
  29. Hi Glen The best option would be an Internet search for a replacement seat one of our sons has a friend who has a 1 series early this year he brought a Complete interior Black Leather seats front and rear + trim and Door cards for £250 delivered. I would start with Realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will bring up your model, then get the part number you need. Then contact the Register of BMW Dismantlers to see if they can help then Ebay With luck it will be a straight seat swap at worst you will have to strip the seat to get to the motor you need. Good Luck Dave
  30. Hi Lew Does it by any chance have an electric front seat with memory function? Sorry - just noticed date! 😂
  31. This is not just a re-calibration issue - I’ve tried that and it doesn’t work. A scan shows that there’s an issue with the Hall effect sensor in the motor that controls the forwards and backwards position on the driver’s seat. I assume that this is also why the memory function on the driver’s seat doesn’t work. The seat moves in all directions but the car just can’t identify where it is. The motor sits in a bar under the seat. I’d sort of hoped that I could pick up a replacement but my local BMW dealer parts department inform me that it’s not available on it’s own, I need a complete electric seat base at over £700 plus VAT 😩 Has anyone ever encountered this issue before? Any advice or suggestions please? Is there any sort of workaround or is it feasible for the motor to be repaired? All help gratefully received.

  33. Hi Dave, Thanks for the response to my question. Will most auto electricians have access to that program to be able to code it out or is it a proper specialist job? Thanks Ian
