  2. Hi to you all out there. The one reassuring feature on my 08 plate 635d Auto Convertible is the fact that thankfully it has a traditional 'Handbrake' and not a foot operated Park Brake like in my recently PX'd Mercedes or worse still an electronic push-button park brake !! I am just beginning to digest the somewhat complex Owner manual. I must say that the 'drive' is a very very pleasant one indeed albeit very little of the cars features are anything remotely like those in my 2000 registered E46 325 Ci Convertible Auto ! I was taken a little aback by the size of the car when parked along side of the E46 at home. I makes little or no difference the direction of viewing there is not a bad line on the car and the view with the hood in the up position is rather good unlike some that do little for a convertible image.

  4. Brand new Bosch AGM battery, registered as well using INPA
  5. Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll definitely try it.

  7. Hi. what state is the battery in? Charge it fully and then clear and recheck the codes. my x5 starts throwing up wired and wonderful things like angle sensors and the like when the battery is a bit low.
  8. Hi all New member here. I've had various 7 series over the years. My current ride is an E66 760Li which I've had for just over a year. It has got a few issues as shown below. When I bought the car, interior was very dirty. I had the complete interior swapped with individual interior of exact same spec, albeit in a different colour. Questions: Do seats, ask unit, steering angle sensor etc need programming after replacement? Issue 1 - Engine misfire (new plugs, new coil packs, fuel pump replaced - injector teflon seals and O rings on order now as next step) Issue 2 - iDrive / logic 7 doesnt work - It wasn't working when I bought the car. I had the entire system replaced including ASK unit, dash CD changer, logic 7 amp, DVD changer, Satnav unit. It started to work. Car was parked up over winter and now it has stopped working again. Issue 3 - Airbag light on Issue 4 - Seat belt warning light on Issue 5 - Yellow triangle / Drive control error Errors as following: 1- SIM/SGM 93F4 - Airbag? 2- SZL 9501 - Steering Angle? (error stays despite replacement squib) 3- SSH 9A79 - belt buckle switch - rear left? 4- DME/DDE 29E3 - C1 / C2 misfire? 5- DSC 5EF4 - Steering angle? (error stays despite replacement squib) 6- EMF 6040 - Parking brake? 7- EHC 5F8F - rear right height sensor (error stays despite replacement sensor) 8- TMFTH - DC84 9 - TMBTH - DCC4 10 - KOMBI - E110 - instrument cluster 11 - PDC - 9E31-32-39 - Parking sensors 12 - CIDF - A488 13 - KLIMA - 9C56 Fogging 14 - KLIMA - 9C64 AUC Any E65/66 experts / programmers in or around London who can help? Ideally someone who has some cars for breaking as well so parts can be swapped if needed. All help would be muchly appreciated. Happy to pay to get these issues sorted by someone who has experience , knowledge and parts if needed. Many thanks in advance
  9. Hi Stuart Great result I believe there is like a double skin effect so yes moisture/water can still be present trapped between the two. That is why the silica gel trick works so well it helps absorb the hidden moisture just make sure you can get them out and change them a few times. Dave
  10. Thanks for the welcomes. have to say I’m super impressed with the little Bimmer, my routes are from vw but man, these drive well!. had a little go at clearing the head lights the other evening, they came up very well. I forgot to take a before on the drivers side but it was the worse one. alas all that effort for naught as they’ve fogged up again, so I’m guessing there must be a puddle in there somewhere, so will probably have to take the headlights out, hopefully not that hard a job??
  11. New Key Programming Correct or re-programming a Key that has had a new battery fitted To buy a new key go to your BMW Dealer they will need the Vin and for some sight of the Registration in your name Beware of cheap keys online Dave
  12. Last week
  13. That sounds like a witch's chant Dave . I assume we are talking about the new key ,yes?
  14. Hi Dave Welcome to the Forum Try this First, put your BMW key in the ignition, rapidly turning it to position 1. Quickly do this 5 times in a row. Then, take your key out of the ignition. Press the BMW logo on your BMW key fob 3 times while holding down the unlock button. Let go of the unlock button after the third time you’ve pressed the BMW Logo Good Luck Dave
  15. Nice fine, thanks, but the manuals are not free. Still worth the price. Thanks again!
  16. I'm sure this quetion has been asked before so a link will suffice I'm a new BMW owner and I need a spare key fob. Looking online it appears you can program a new key fob by holding it against a marking on the steering column but I don't see this mark on my 2011 118i sport. Is the mark only on certain models, if so is there a way to program a key fob without paying a dealer silly money for a new one?
  17. I have just had a drive train issue on my 220 Gran Tourer auto at 37,000 miles and my BMW dealership is quoting £12.5k for a new gearbox. Can you add me to the list with regard to a collective complaint.
  18. Collection from Lincoln LN4 - £750 ono
  19. Hi Dave. Thank you for your quick reply. SCARY is the first thing that comes to mind especially as I can no longer do my own work on my cars unless it is something like changing wiper blades and stuff that does not require a garage for shelter in the event of bad weather ! I will sound-out my Indy as I have been using him on my previous 4No E45's. A very very brief word with him a little after opening up your post revealed that the transmission service on the forthcoming E63 involves a new sump (made of plastic !!!) which has an integral filter as part of the construction. He was talking a figure circa £450.00. We will see when the time comes.
  20. OK can you not raise the car and through the engine bay pull the bonnet release cable, once you have access to the engine bay you should be able to change the battery and power the door locks The only car I have had real problems with had no battery fitted at all Good Luck
  21. Morning Mobeen Copies of INPA/ISTA are mainly pirate so not knowingly sold by members So you will need to search the internet if buying I would make sure the Software and Cable are together also be aware that some versions will not work on a 64bit system (mine runs on an old Windows 7 32bit system) Good Luck Dave
  22. Morning Alan I would think if it is possible it needs activation in the Operating system However I have to ask "Why" all my BMW's have had voice activation to some degree but I have never used it I tried on the early X5 then it was Radio and Phone only and to say the least it was not good !! A request like "phone home" would be answered with something unrelated like Radio 4 selected 🤣 So I have never bothered since all the buttons work and so do my fingers 😅😂 Dave
  23. Morning John Not just the marques you name the poor old gearbox and Diffs are probably the most abused parts of any car. With most Garages Oil and Filters and a quick visual inspection is seen as a service (time is money) ZF Service intervals are 60k to 100k Kilometres (about 60k miles) So "sealed for life" for most Marques meant "End of Warranty Responsibility" My X5 E53 4.6is was serviced by ZF the cost was £630 (8 years ago) but they pulled the Mechatronic unit serviced it and fitted new seals flushed the Torque converter the put it all back. Even though my box was smooth it felt better after service. My X5 E70 I have doe myself using genuine ZF parts cost was £220 Fluid Filter Sump Seal and Bolts (Euro Car Parts last year) I also changed fluid in both Diffs and Transfer Case Check Google for ZF specialists or a ZF service centre for costs if your not into DIY Dave Tip make sure you can undo the fill plug before draining the fluid I had to help a friend who had drained his box then couldn't undo the Fill plug and damaged it
  24. Hi everyone I have a 2006 760Li that has some issues. I have bought an INPA / ISTA compatible cable but need to get the software. Is there someone on here who sells the software? I would need help setting it up as well. Car has had the following replaced: Seats, Logic 7 amp and ASK unit (yes, car already had logic 7), steering angle sensor, complete rear suspension including struts, blue/red pipes and compressor, and a brand new BOSCH battery. Apparently some of these needs some sort of coding? What do I need for that? Any help would be very much appreciated. Happy to pay anyone willing to help over whatsapp video call to take me through things.
  25. Update: Hey everyone! I want to give a big thanks to all of you in the forum, especially those who shared helpful tips about my car search! So, about that window sticker, I just did a quick search on Google! I typed in "window sticker by VIN" and found this awesome website! It even lets you search for window stickers by license plate. How cool is that? Since I had the VIN number, I got myself a replica of the window sticker. Thanks a bunch for all your support, you guys are awesome!
  26. Hi. All of my Hey BMW commands work fine, except when trying to Command Open Drivers Window, Open Sun roof or Open sun blind, I get a response “this is not currently possible”. I have tried asking BMW but do not get consistent answers. Is this possible on a UK car running v9 OS? thanks in advance. Al

  28. Hi to you all out there. I am seriously perturbed about the somewhat cockeyed notion that gearboxes in both BMW and Mercedes Benz cars are seal for life and do not require servicing !! Indeed it has been said that they (both marques ) that they only need working on when they totally fail as functioning transmissions !! My question to the forum is simply - has anyone had or got a 635 Auto that has had had a transmission service or is booked in for one and what cost is involved ? I have scrutinized the documentation/service book/record and there is no evidence of the car having had a transmission service in the year since it was first registered in July 2008. albeit the mileage is now as 133,250 miles.
