BMW F20 118d B48 – Oil Leak on Front Passenger Side
Hello, I have a BMW F20 118d with the B48 engine. The problem is that it’s leaking oil from this area. I’ve done a lot of research trying to find where the leak is coming from, but I haven’t been able to identify the source. Has anyone experienced a similar oil leak on the front passenger side?

Friendly Hello, just registered.
I suspect (and hope) that I will be more of a reader than a writer in this forum because I have just bought my first BMW and know very little about anything BMW. My boot lid used to fly off its hinges but not now, thanks to a guy on Youtube showing me how to fit replacements. I've invested in a hardcopy Handbook but that's almost a difficult to navigate as the iDrive! When I have some time to spare, I can be found under the bonnet trying various ways to dig out the rotting leaves that have settled over years in the cavities way down beneath the bonnet springs. I have been a reactive DIY repairer of various cars, over many years and in an odd way, I enjoy it. Cheers for now.

Hi all!
I didn’t know about the difference with the wheels. Learn something new everyday! More than likely, I will sell the e46 parts, as there is about 6k worth, and everything except the bilstein b12 pro suspension and Brembo discs and pads, everything is genuine bmw with all the receipts from main dealer. As for the x6, the next job is front wheel bearings, and track rod ends, then the control arm bushes and top wishbone bushes and ball joints. They should be done in the next few weeks, then I’ll do the rear ones.

Loud ABS pump noise please help!
Hi Sam Not sure what Diagnostic you used as I can't find that code ( use ISTA/INPA BMW specific) the only 480 codes I have seen are DPF driven so really odd. As for the ABS you can remove the control unit from the pump (4 Torx Bolts) without removing/disturbing the Hydraulics then send it to someone like ECU Testing who repair them. Before doing that it's worth checking the loom for damage Hope this helps Dave

Loud ABS pump noise please help!
Thank you! Glad to be here. No by always on I mean even with the ignition off and doors locked. There are no leaks and the reservoir is full of brake fluid. it's the strangest thing. My friend has a diagnostic tool and he brought it in just now. There was an error code which makes no sense to me. The code was: 48071C-Permanent-DSC unit: internal, pump, supply voltage But as you can see it is running no idea what it means by supply voltage :(

Quick 1 second shake while car stopped at traffic lights
Morning Daniel Welcome to the Forum My first thought is get a Diagnostic scan done, second thought is early 2000's BMW's many suffered a lurch in the transmission when stopping. When was the transmission serviced last ? I haven't heard of people suffering this from the lurch for years Dave

Quick 1 second shake while car stopped at traffic lights
Hi all, Would like to know if this is normal for x4. I have a 2016 X4 2.0 Petrol. I usually have cool air con runs on low while driving. Ive noticed while stopped at the traffic lights the car usually does a quick 1 sec shake/nudge, its very noticeable like everyone sits in the car can feel it. Wonder if this is normal for BMW or X4 in general or if anyone knows what it might be? Please do share your thoughts, thanks and advance. Daniel

Gone wrong again!!
New seat adjuster in and a new alternator fitted…. 2 hours of Saturday unavailable for shopping…. Great stuff! Productive day… now I can get in the car and charging is happening! Although the car is reading 11.0 when running… took it for a blat and it got up to 14.1 so I’ll give it a good charge today and hopefully it keeps the battery charged. @Greydog thank you for your knowledge as always.

Clicking noise
Cheers Dave, it appeared to have frayed on the outside. I have ordered a new tensioner and will fit. I think it might be something to do with the pulley sticking. In hindsight I should have done the lot at the time I replaced the belt. I think I was too miffed that the garage didn’t notice it on a major service! thanks for your help

Clicking noise
Morning Dan Welcome to the Forum That doesn't look right, was the belt that came off fraying on the inside or outside (very disappointing the garage didn't pick it up) is it catching somewhere I wonder? If changing drive belts I change tensioners and water pump while I am in there. Never don it on a 116d though Dave

Headlight replacement
Hi. Try quarry motors in Sheffield. Hopefully they have some or a good lead for them

Headlight replacement
Hi, my headlight has gone on my ‘07 1 Series - loads of moisture in the light, seal has gone. Took it to local BMW specialist who said I need parts 63 11 7 181 295 and 63 11 7 181 296 (as I thought best to get both replaced due to age) as they are the adaptive/halo style. Ebay and internet search shows they are difficult to get hold of, and approx £1k each if new. Does anyone know where to get these parts in the UK at a sensible price, or if lower cost headlight units can be used - I’m not bothered re the adaptive function, just want working headlights that don’t cost more than the car value! Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated.

Clicking noise
Hi all, I have just had a major service on my 1 series 116d (2021). The day after I checked under the car as a cat went under it. Whilst looking my ancillary belt seems to have started to shred. I have changed the belt and ever since there has been a clicking noise. The tensioner is also going ten to the dozen. I’m not sure if it was there before or not! Has anyone seen/heard this? Thanks in advance. IMG_6285.mov
