  2. Thank you Dave for the welcome and the reply. The original unit, i believe, was the next stereo up from the base unit, not anything flasher than that. BMW are about as much use as a chocolate teapot and can't/won't tell me what i need without me booking it in with them for them to look and diagnose any issues. My nearest BMW dealer is 30+ miles away and i really don't have the time or enthusiasm to make the trip for them to sell me all the OEM equipment that was removed last time the same fault happened. The issue is the well documented (and ignored by BMW) problem of water entering the boot and sills due to a design flaw, short of silicone sealing all the rear light fittings and drilling holes into my boot floor to drain the water, the issue will continue. Once i figure out what Amp i can replace this one with, i will be looking at jacking up the Amp or creating a unit to sit it in to keep it out of any standing water. Thanks again Dave.
  3. Hi, just got a new 230e Active Tourer and joined the forum. Love the car, especially when running on electric motors only, but it has an issue with the curved panel control display that doesn’t always switch on when I start up but then randomly starts up 10 mins later. BMW dealer hasn’t seen it before so it’s booked in for an inspection next week. Has anyone else seen this on on any of the new plug in hybrids with the same display panel?
  4. Thanks for the reply, i will get hubby to check this next weekend when he's back from his work trip. Thanks for your help.
  5. Absolutely correct my E53 runs 9.5 x 20 Front and 10.5 x 20 Rear and the E70 is as yo say 10 x 20 Front 11 x 20 Rear. Not really necessary on a 4x4 but BMW Designers like the looks 🤣🤣 ( and so do I) Hope you found what you needed Dave

  7. Great feedback Richard I am afraid all cars are becoming gimmicky the designers need to understand that because a Microchip has the capacity you don't need to use it !! As you say some good but an awful lot irrelevant being an old bloke even when I got the 4.6is X5 (2003) it had a reverse camera and sensors. Being my age and having spent many years turning and looking when reversing I had owned the car a fair while when reversing one day a passenger said "thats cool" you have a camera why don't you use it ? The current X5 has camera's and when parking/reversing I still turn to look where I am going 😅 Just stop using the bit's you don't need Most important though ENJOY your Beemer Dave
  8. As with all modern car seats the drivers side bolster has started to wear, the leather one in mine has just started to loose the leather shine and the stitching has fluffed. Anyone used any really good product to help delay the inevitable, I've currently just started applying a bit of Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather 3in1 Leather Cleaner & Protectant. Was thinking of trying a bit of dubbin.
  9. Agreed, I was also eyeing up MICHELIN PRIMACY 4's, although BMW fitted new tyres when I bought the car, so I have a while to go until changing (hopefully).
  10. Morning Ross I would start by checking that all injectors are OK, seated properly and fixed down at the correct torque. If there are no injector or glow plug issues then the valve train needs investigation could be a lifter sticking or a Vanos issue. Dave
  11. Has anyone else had this no sound problem recently ?
  12. You haven't given much away here ? But Welcome to the Forum anyway I know there have been a number of recalls since 2020, here I am assuming (dangerous) that all yours are up to date ? I have read of several incidents of SME faults 21F21F seems one of the most common with PHEV. Why BMW seem to deny there are issues I just don't understand. Check the US sites they may have more information due to Class Actions in the USA manufacturers tend to move faster with fixes and Recalls Good Luck Dave
  13. Morning Shawn Take a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box, it will call up your model then search the Body and Trim sections You should find what you need there, once you have the part and it's part number then you can search for the best price for a replacement Dave
  14. Hi Paul Carpets are a "Touch and Feel" purchase in my mind for my wife's Subaru I had a local Carpet fitter make up a set. He did a great job all edges taped and stitched and the non slip pads on the back he was able to get the car mats out of off cuts (Contract quality Wilton in Beige). He charged around half the cost of Subaru direct might be worth tracking down a fitter and asking Another thought are Guys like Quarry Motors but again you would be buying unseen but at least they know what OEM BMW mats are. Dave
  15. S24 Ultra is QI charging compatible (which I belive the factory fitted OEM charging tray is) I have a QI wireless charger in the house for it. Like I say I get a Blue LED when I put the phone it the tray, but doesn't seem to want to charge, will borrow a friend's phone and try that. Thanks
  16. Hi Guys I have an E92 330d with 150k on I’m having the swirl flaps deleted and it’s booked in for a gearbox service next month, other than regular servicing is there anything else I should be doing (preventative or otherwise) thanks Daz.
  17. Morning Hans If the fault is EWS or CAS related I think you need to read up on resetting/resyncing the Key/EWS/CAS or if your diagnostics are up to it re-programming them. As you have a donor nearby maybe take the EWS and Keys ? Fingers crossed it is fairly simple and a reset works Dave
  18. Morning Shawn Welcome to the Forum Lucky son 😁 Even Dealers technicians (they don't call them mechanics anymore so they can charge more 🤣) can be clumsy rock apes at times. With the Xdrive cars correct sized tyres are essential to protect the Xdrive transfer case, diffs etc Hope your boy appreciates his car Dave
  19. Afternoon Darren Just your BMW telling you that you needed a Dealers help 😅 Or hoping to scare you into their arms Try a Parking Brake reset, as you only changed pads a Soft Reset should work Turn on the ignition. Hold down the parking sensor button for 3-5 seconds until you hear a beep. Release the button, and the system will reset Hope that does it for you Dave

  21. Morning Robin Welcome to the Forum By the sound of things you need a coil over kit for standard ride height with adjustable shocks. Playing with bump and rebound settings should allow a more supple ride, though wheels and tyres are a big part of the overall equation. Bilstien are a well established reliable name that has been around for years so if the kit has been developed for the car should be a good choice, lots of other kits out there with a wild price range but personally suspension tyres and brakes really are not worth cutting corners with. Dave
  22. Morning Rob Welcome to the Forum As with most cars in reasonable condition and with an MOT it is worth the market value, check the Auction sites and local adds. Without an MOT it is scrap value as it can't be driven some recyclers may even charge to collect it. Reading your post it seems like you have already made a decision. Personally I would fix it and sell it or maybe carry on using it but then I do all my own maintenance on our cars and its a hobby not a chore Dave
  23. Thanks Dave, will have a look sooner than expected!
  24. Morning Clifford Welcome to the Forum If you are not aware take a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box, it will bring up your model then look in the Exhaust section The only part I am aware of BMW call a "fixing Bow" it goes on the rear silencer flap actuator assembly Good luck Dave
  25. Thanks Dave, will enquire further. Thanks for the reply.
