I'm liking that idea, I've got pretty brght head lights so a bit of tint won't make too much difference.

Hi there, My headlight lenses are in a bit of a poo state, and rather than replace them I was going to try applying a tinting film. Is it pretty easy to apply without bubbling? Is a heat gun required? Where's the best place to get the film from?

Hi guys, I'm looking at buying a DVD player to upgrade the head unit and wondered if anyone had done the same. Are those motorised screens any good? Or how about the single DIN ones with the 3" screen? I want to try and avoid a double DIN, but I don't want it to look cheap and nasty. And I want it to have a video out for my head rest monitors and an input for my reversing camera. Cheers guys.

Just out of interest how much was this version? £35 for a genuine cable seems pretty reasonable, so unless it's literally a couple of quid then I'll probably go official.

Can you unlock any hidden features or anything?

Is it worth picking up one of the chinese code scanners off eBay? I had 3 different VAG diagnostic cables and they were invaluable. Are there any cool features that can be enabled with it? Will my VAG cables work with the same software?

Just out of interest, are these actually made by BMW or Nokia? or a totally third party company? Might be worth an email to see if they do an upgrade, although I'll bet I'm not the first to ask that question.

Now thats a class idea, I'm looking at replacing the head unit with one of these, that way I can get rid of it and the wiring all together. And added bonus, I can fit a wireless reversing camera to stop me reversing into stuff. I learnt to drive in the military and it seems their standards are a lot lower than civvie tests so I'm a pretty hopeless driver.

It still starts the car, I'm hoping it's the IMMO transponder so just has to be near the key.

This is mine, it came apart really easily, but there's a grey chip looking thing loose in there.

Two screws were all it took to get at the insides, hopefully I can get it sorted. I'll let you know in the morning.

I've managed to find replacement buttons, any tips on taking the fobs apart?

Hi guys, I've just pickred up the bimmer and I love it, but the buttons on the key fob are totally shot. The remote is totally fine though, and both of them start the car. Is there anyone that happens to have any of the rubber buttons? Or, how hard are they to reprogramme? Is it worth buying one of those £20 diagnostic cables off ebay?

Hi there, I'm looking at replacing my head unit with one of these Xtrons head units, and using it with a wireles reversing camera. Has anyone either? Good results or bad? Or are reverse cameras a bit of a gimmick?

Hi there, I've currently got the OEM phone mount which I beleive is for the Motorola V50. Has anyone managed to work out away of swapping that for another mount? For say an iPhone or something? Or am I looking at a connects2 or xcarlink type set up? My cradle is shown below.

The local VW owners club meet up in Avesbury, there's a little field that's almost custom made for car meets. Accessible to lowered cars as well which was usually my main problem
