  1. Hi guys, I've been getting a knocking from the back end. I thought it was my top mounts but I've replaced those and still got the noise. I went to change the tyre and found it worn very unevenly, I've been told to check the trailing arm bushes and ball joints. Has anyone got a part number for the ones I need as there's loads of different ones on Euros and I don't want to buy the wrong ones. Also, will I need any special tools for the job?
  2. Top mounts arrived today, so thats this weekends job sorted. What are the best places to jack up the rear? Is there a rear Jacking point like there is as the front?
  3. Better to do the top mounts first before you ##### about with the ARB bushes.
  4. To be honest I've not got round to doing it yet, it's this weekends job. I've been seriously way layed by the water pump going on my beetle, which took out pretty much the whole engine. I'll keep you posted though, it looks pretty simple so it might be worth doing. I know from my Golf days that with coil overs it's best to use brand new top mounts rather than reuse the old ones.
  5. Hi guys, I'm looking at putting some extra 12v sockets in the glovebox, firstly is there a decent 12v feed that only comes on with the engine near there? I was thinking of the radio. Also, I'm guessing it's god practise to put an inline fuse on the wire but what kind of ampage would you recommend?
  6. I got 10 leds from ebay for about £3. From memory every festoon LED is about 40mm.
  7. I'm deffo going pro for it, it's like 30 quid at Mr. Clutch if you book through Groupon.
  8. Went for a drive today and sat in the back while the wife drove and it sounds like it's the rear top shock mount. It looks like a fairly easy fix, I'm going to euros tomorrow to pick up the new one and see how it goes. If that doesn't solve it I'm going to just have to replace all of them, I'm going to leave the ARB bushes till last as they look like an absolute pig to replace.
  9. Hi guys, I'm getting a knocking sound when I go over even tiny bumps in the road. I had the wheel off the other day to check all the bushes (who knew there could be so many) everything looks ok to my untrained eye. There were two that looked slightly worn (pictured) but it there a ruber mout at the top of the suspension spring that I can't see? I checked the ARB bushes and they look ok, the shock top mounts look good too but wthout taking it off theres no way to see the top. Can anyone suggest anything else?
  10. On that topic, has anyone used one of the Connects2 type devices? Are they worth it or is it better to just replace the head unit?
  11. The steering wheel controls seem to work fine so far, I'm thinking of T-ing into the power source and getting some usb ports in the glove box. And one of those Connects2 type boxes for the stereo would sit nicely in the glove box.
  12. Hi guys, Whilst I was wiring my Angel Eyes up I had the glove box out and found the control unit for the phone cradle. Can I just rip all that stuff out? If not, any idea how to do it? Has anyone made any kind of modification to enable a modern phone to be stored there? Cheers.
  13. Got them installed and wired up. I decided to go from the torch charger so the doors didn't affect them. They're no where near as bright as I was expecting, but that's not a huge problem. The only problem is that they haven't actually switches off yet lol I'm hoping it's only a matter of time. UPDATE - They're actually pretty bright at night, however they stay on for ages after my car is locked. I'm guessing I'm heading for many flat batteries. Does anyone know how long the torch charger stays on for after the car is locked? UPDATE 2 - For some reason they've started turning off with the lock now, and they seem to have brightened up even n the day. Looks even better, best £20 I've spent on the car. And it took literally about an hour and a half, if you had more of an idea what you were doing you could probably half that.
  14. Cool, apparently I can connect them to the foot well light on the passenger side. Just waiting for some solder to arrive so I can solder the wire joints up. Plus I need to replace the rubber seals for my head lights and they are ridiculously expensive.
  15. No worries,I'll get it looked at. Although I was kind of hoping it would be something simple enough to sort myself lol
  16. Hi Guys, After leaving my car standing for four months the A/C has stopped working, which is awesome in this weather It used to be freezing but now I can hear a whining when it comes on and the revs go up but the air isn't getting any colder. I've checked all three fuses that are suggested in the fuse diagram and they're all fine. Does anyone know where to start troubleshooting? Cheers in advance,
  17. Hey there, Just got back from the Falklands to find a set of angel eyes waiting for me. Has anyone fitted a set yet? Do they have to be wired to the side lights or can I have them come on with the ignition? Cheers guys.
  18. I love it now, although it took some getting used to. And getting used to driving the wifes manual is tricky now LOL
  19. I'll have a look in the boot and see if I can find this fuse box and run a wire to it. Sounds pretty simple though.
  20. I will do, once I've got everything. What kind of fuse would you recommend? There's a fuse box in the rear?
  21. That sounds awesome, the phono cable connects to a wifi sender, so no need to run a cable. I've got an old android phone mounted on the dash so I can run the cam and Torque Pro.
  22. Yeah, it needs to be on constantly I think, that way it doesn't go off when I'm parallel parking (something I sadly have to do about 4 times a day). It's something I've never done before, is it pretty simple? I'm not scared of a bit of soldering.
  23. Hi guys, I'm looking at fitting one of these into the boot. It's a reversing camera that can be viewed by any smart phone. It's meant to draw power from the reverse light, but there's a bit of a delay as the unit starts up so I was hoping there was a constant feed that went into the boot so it was on all the time. Is there onetere or is it a case of running one from the 12V feed in the dash?
  24. I'll sack them off then, I don't fancy ending up on Shed Of The Day.
  25. Just out of interest, I can't work out whether these lights will look good or hugely chavvy. The bottom pic is of a light up bonnet/boot emblam, I was thinking of getting white for the front and red for the back. With the front coming on with the lights and maybe the back coming on with the brake lights. I'm worried it'll look a bit chavvy though. Anyone got either of them installed?
