  1. I'd love to be part of this club but it's rare I visit because I find it incredibly frustrating sifting through topics with other BMW Models I have little interest in. Perhaps it would be a good Idea under "3 series Club" to have sub categories E30, E36, E46 etc so posts are easier find and look through, the same should be done for the for sale and wanted pages, Just a thought.
  2. Hi George. There doesn't have to be a lot of oil to make a mess, remember when oil is hot it's a lot thinner in viscosity than when it's cold. Have you checked the usual areas for dampness (or fresh oil) such as around the sump, rocker cover gasket and oil filter housings?
  3. I did this not long after I had bought my 330ci. Not with red (I think that would draw unwanted attention from the ladies of the night in my area) but rather with the white/xenon kind of look. Huge improvement over the nasty dated yellow lights.
  4. Hi mate. Off the bat, colour isn't my thing but like you say you built it for you. Was it a homebrew respray? As it looks a decent satin finish. I think a few little bits like sorting the front bumper fitment will tie it together nicely.
  5. Hi guys. When I got my car back around June time my local BMW Specialist took a look at my car and suggested that in the near future, I should look at changing my bushes at the front of the car. Where is the best place to buy them from? I've heard Meyle HD are the best to go for. I was going to change wishbones and rear bushes, anything else I should change? Are they easy to do on a driveway? IF not how much would the average garage charge? Thanks in advance and happy new year!
  6. F10 is your model code. http://www.bmwsections.com/docs/5series/ manual for download at the bottom of that page.
  7. Not at all illegal then haha. One of the better ones I have seen in my city is CL55ACT. It was on a BMW but I think its on an Audi A5 now.
  8. Thanks Daz. It's not a complaint as such, I have left one on the car (they stick on pretty damn well!) it just that previous stickers I have had just leave the font on the glass (external stickers) and the backing is binned.
  9. Hi guys, received my pack the other week with my stickers, only just got around to putting them on today as I detailed the car. Now, previous stickers I have had from various clubs in the past have been the type where you peel the backs off, stick them to the window, rub on them then peel the front off just leaving the font. I tried it with one and it didn't work. I take it these are different and the clear sticker is meant to stay on, looks a bit unsightly. Are the stickers in the shop the same? If so am I able to have the font so I can make a couple up myself as I have fubard these ones. Sorry for being a bit spethial.
  10. They would have been if they had been fronts mate. I've searched google high and low.
  11. Thanks for the welcome guys. Just discovered that my rocker cover gasket is weaping, Seen oil running down the front onto the water pipe :( . Looks like it has been done before but not very well. Cheers Storey. It's pretty easy if you know the basics of Photoshop. You basically take two photos (camera on a tripod, manual exposure/focus) one with the bonnet down, and one with it up. You open up the bonnet open one in photoshop, then open the bonnet closed one up. Copy the closed bonnet pic and paste it on top of the other, it will be a new layer, set the opacity in the layers pallet to 30% or something so you can see the image below, select the eraser tool with a feathered edge and rub out around the engine. Bring back the opacity and you will have the above result.
  12. Does anyone know where I can get BMW Performance Brake Discs from in the UK? These ones to be precise: http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E46-330Ci-M54_3.0L/Braking/Rotors/Front/Cross_Drilled/ES2228825/ Their UK postage adds a substantial amount to the cost and I dread to think what the import duty cost would be.
  13. Those canons shoot intruders ;) Thanks for the welcomes!
  14. Evening Ladies and Gents. My names James, I am from Lincoln. I joined the forum back in April with the intention of researching about the E46 prior to buying one. My previous hello thread was of a similar title but now, I have actually bought a new car and I am here to enjoy the forum (now a paid subscriber) and show it off! It's a 2003 330ci Sport. I was told that it was space grey, however I believe it's 'Silver Grey'. Completely standard, not really looking to change anything to be honest as I love it the way it is. Maybe possibly a few carbon fibre bits but nothing other than that (unless the collective can persuade me!!). Unfortunatley, it isn't the tidiest, but its not the worst and to a non car person I have had comments of it being "immaculate" which is nice to hear, but in my eyes far from it. Bodywork wise, other than the usual stone chips on the hood and wings, scruffy lower portion of the bumper it has a couple of small supermarket trolly dints on the rear n/s wing. I have left these for the time being as I don't want a repair to crack the paint. Also the wheels are marked from the previous owner not being able to park. Interior wise it's pretty clean up front, aside from the common bolster stitching coming away and the bottom right support foam going. This is due to be sorted soon. The previous owner has had at least one dog in there as the trim on one of the rear arm rests has chew marks, slight tear in the rear seat (not very noticeable) and a couple of claw marks. A run of bad luck meant that I developed a rattle a couple of days of getting it home. These weren't evident on the test drive so my luck must have been running low. The sound was coming from the right of the engine so I investigated the DISA Valve. It was nakkard. So I bought a repair kit, fitted it back together and it was silent! Result! Or so I thought as five minutes later it started making the sound again. I put it down to a noisy pully or bearing on the alternator, which proved to be correct a few days later as I broke down with a failed alternator. All is now well and I can enjoy driving it, which I am immensely. Things to do to it are as follows: Front Discs and Pads which will be done next month (Any recommendations for either? Pagid? I was looking at drilled brembos, with DS2500 pads). Repair Seat - Will be done soon Refurb The Wheels Service Anyway, I have probably missed a lot off there but I shan't bore you anymore. Here are some photos. Regards, James
  15. I knew it would be a tall order, perhaps I shall sit and wait and put some more money to one side. Id rather buy one that I can just look after than having to carry work out on as I don't have the time or the space to do it sadly. I'll keep a keen eye out. Rusty front arches don't bother me so much as its an easy fix but rear arches concern me. My old mans have gone there and has had expensive quotes to fix them with little guarantee.
  16. My Dad's E46 323i does it too from time to time. I am guessing if it's anything like his you'll not be able to eject the magazine either. I had to remove the carpet, unbolt the unit and remove the case to get it out. Whilst it was off, I greased everything up and put it all back together and it worked fine. Every now and then it buggers up not as bad as it was.
  17. Evening all, I'm James from Lincoln. Not currently a BMW owner yet (I had to fill in something upon registration) however I am on the hunt for a E46 330ci. My budget isn't huge at £2k (might be able to stretch a little in a few months) however I'm not too picky (well I hope im not). Only requirements it must have are: Black interior and no rust. Other than that any spec I am interested in hearing about. So longs it looks good and runs well and doesn't need anything doing I'll be interested. J
