  1. No longer required. OE trims arriving at main dealer tomorrow. Unmarked walnut will be heading to for sale section when removed! Looking for advice on swapping over, will search the forum. Bit nervous about it.
  2. Yes, thanks. Shadyscarbon? Somewhere in the south east would be better. They seem to major on carbon, which I don't want, but they and others seem to do brushed metal style. Just a bit worried about 1) resistance to scratching 2) long term loss of adhesion, esp. around apertures. I think if i felt confident about long term robustness i'd probably go for it at £200. All the bits on ebay are damaged.
  3. Hello all. I have unmarked burr walnut interior trims in my 07 335i coupe. I would ike to trade them for aluminium, or as a last resort dark poplar. No carbon thanks. I think this will be a hard one to trade as I know everybody wants carbon, and nobody seems to want walnut - but you never know... Thanks for reading!
  4. Thanks, I'll look into them. I have had some limited experience of Dodo products, which I liked (bought some at Goodwood), but like you until recently I always used Megs on my Impreza - my favourites were the clay bar, speed detailer and glass cleaner, which smells lovely - and the all metal polish for stainless trim & wheels. Didn't like the scratch remover much, though I did sometimes use it sparingly for baked on fly-grot on my wing mirrors. I switched to Autoglym after watching a demo at Top Gear live and really liked the shampoo and super resin polish and the clear finish coat, can't remember what that's called but it always gave a deep, milky shine to my paintwork. People actually complimented it as they walked by. I suspect the BMW stuff will turn out to be a bit cobblers - I think I was just carried away, surrounded by all that expensive grey/brushed metal merchandise.
  5. First clean of new car next weekend. Mmmm. Fresh.

  6. Ys, sounds sensible for a £5 fix ( in parts at least). I have also fitted a disklok for peace of mind, and thecar's going ror its ECU fix in a few days. Feel much less twitchy now. Made worse because the car has just impressed me so much; I already feel as attached to it as anything else i've driven. I even bought a load of BMW cleaning products today. I want them to be like 'Clinique for Men' for cars, but I suspect they're more like Fairy Liquid in a fancy bottle. We shall see. The main dealer's workshop looks like an operating theatre. is it wrong of me to be looking forward to first service time already? It's a long way off, only got about 20k on the car and just serviced. Off topic, but is there a 'WTT' section on here somewhere? Need to find an aluminium hating walnut lover.
  7. Yes. Much better option than carbon wrap. Will see what prices i can get for full aluminium swap first. As you say, lots of ebay bits have dents and scuffs on them, and most are idrive. Do you do this for a living or is it a contact of yours? I came to the car fully expecting to do a DMS remap, but i'm pleasantly surprised by the pull of the motor. I don't do launches so the 0-60 isn't as critical as in gear accel. Will give it a few months to decide. Internally i just want trim and a stubby gearknob. Think they're all m sport. Aso ipod retrofit kit. Externally i don't want to do anything as i love the OE look. Even the wheels. It's all a matter of taste, but for me SE spec looks cleaner than M Sport and i've read a lot of -ve stuff about 19 inchers. Brakes also seem fairly strong but i've not given them enough of a workout to see if they fade. I am guessing there's an Alcon kit available. Ultimately might do intake and exhaust as well as remap, but that'll come later, and LSD if i think it's necessary. Already starting to light up the traction..
  8. You again! Thanks, i will give it a try. Loving the engine by the way, and very glad i held out for a manual. Any tips on replacement interior trim? Hve a price from MStyle in Essex, carbon wrap by Shadyscarbon or OE from main dealer, still waiting for price. Rarer than hens teeth on ebay. Mght post on here to see if anybody wants to swap their alu or piano for my walnut. You never know. There might be a retired judge out there with a coupe..
  9. Thanks lads. My only worry with the obd is that Flux might get shirty if the worst did happen, or if damage was done trying to find the actual OBD. We know how tricky insurers can be. I guess it needs to be declared as a mod. Don't live in a bad area but no garage and i think i will go for the disklok. Wll ned to fidle with it to avoid it marking the wheel, or so i've read... Had a tracker in my Impreza for years, so may try to get a preferential rate from them. They were very quick to offer a discount when i last renewed and said i might not bother as i was changing vehicle.
  10. Hi. Just getting to know my 335i. The dahs seems to have some whiteish residue on it, looks like poorly applied cleaning product. Anybody got any good reccs for a cleaner for the textured dash top? Also best cloths which won't leave fibres all over it... Cheers!
  11. Hi all. Oe week in to ownership of first BM, a mint 335i coupe. Having never paid much attention to recent BMs until I started researching my next purchase, I concentrated on Evo and that kind of site/mag. I therefore knew nothing of this key reprogramming theft epidemic! I am cacking it leaving her outside. Think I need to convert my living room with an up and over door. Can't see much later than Sep last year on this topic. Did the 'upgrade' (recall) fix the issue? Should i get a tracker? Is it worth getting a disklok just to slow the f***ers down a few minutes? Are people still fitting dummy OBD ports...? Tested one at Birds And they didn't mention the issue. Presume i need to check with its home deal to see if the software fix has been done... Until i upgrade my security i suspect it'll be a scary moment every morning when i check it's still there. Unless anyone advises to the contrary will be going to Halfords tomorrow for a disklok... Many many thanks guys
  12. Hi all. After modified Impreza and earlier Biturbo S4 I've finally scratched that RWD itch and on Thursday I pick up a mint 07 plate E92 335i. It's pretty low on options but IS a manual and having driven both manual and auto it's a stick for me all the way - and I'm happy to forego a few toys. So - it's classic old man spec, with few tech gizmos, sciatica-soothing seats and burr walnut everywhere you look. The plan, once I'm used to the car and can assess what I perceive its shortcomings to be, is to create a really focused driver's machine without unnecessary stuff all over it, and the long list, in order of priority, currently reads as follows - I welcome advice on any or all items but sure I can also find old posts on them all: 1) BMW child seat for 2.5 year old 2) replace/wrap/paint interior trim (I believe OE piano black is cheap but prone to scratching?) 3) ipod adaptor in g'box (will use 3.5 AUX in til then I guess) 4) DMS remap: I know this one's a topic in itself. I'm not a traffic light racer and I would be using the power for in-gear acceleration, but I accept a Quaife LSD might also be a good idea! 5) change to 18" non runflat tyres when current Bridgestones give up the ghost I love the car. I tested a few and there are some really tired ones out there. The bolsters seem quite prone to wear. Some looked worse than my Impreza which had 114k on it! Tried a FULLY loaded car but auto wasn't for me, despite its obvious quality and technical competence. it just flows. It's very different to the Impreza, which I still love but sometimes feel is taking ME for a ride. The BM is just planted and swift without too much drama. Love the engine note too. I've hankered after a coupe for years, and only now can I afford a good one. For me, the shape is to die for, and harks back to the E9 and E24 - continuing that BMW DNA without too much of the current slashed/angled and highly detailed 'design language'. I think it's one of those shapes that people will still be admiring in another 15 years' time. So - here's to a fantastic few years, some DIY projects and subtle mods to make this a tasteful stealth fighter..
