  1. Hi Rob It shouldn't make too much difference to the speedo reading as there is always a % fudge factor either way (you can always check it on an external sat nav) also if you are altering the profile of the tyres, as you say, there wouldn't be much if any of a difference in readings. Cheers, Trevor
  2. Hi Paul I think it is a case of 'its worth it to someone who wants it'....I would try putting it on ebay with a very high reserve just to see what the bids are like and then go from there...at least you'll have a valuation, of sorts. Cheers, Trevor
  3. sounds like immense fun...always great to see their face after being taken out by a sleeper
  4. LOL....I'm sure they have done that It sounds like you know what you want from a car and I agree that sometimes it does come down to engine choice and other factors that dictate the vehicle you have chosen to drive I drive a Honda CRV (3rd Generation) 2.2 CDT-i on a daily basis and I will probably grow old with it (although it may see it's demise in better condition than me). It just does what it says on the tin and does it very well, so no point in getting shot of it. However, a man cannot have only one car...bit like a woman with handbags and that's where the 'other car(s)' come in....lol
  5. Hi Razvan...welcome to the Forum Difficult one to pinpoint the cause ..... first thoughts were of the turbo bearings failing but not so sure as it only hits the spot at certain revs and it was bearings it would evidence throughout the rev range. Thinking it may be an induction leak (inlet manifold, hoses, intercooler, etc) but don't discount an exhaust leak (anywhere from the manifold, turbo and through to the downpipe). Maybe a smoke test is the best way forward....that would narrow down the possible causes almost immediately. Let us know what you find Cheers, Trevor
  6. Wow! that's a fantastic collection of cars you've had over the years, Dave. AMG is such a superb breed, never had the opportunity to own one (as yet). Any thoughts of 'what next' or will you be sticking with the Beemer?
  7. Keep us updated...am intrigued to know the answer
  8. Lotus Carlton....awesome car!!! definitely one of my favourites from that era
  9. Sounds like quite an ambitious project...sorry, don't know the answer. But surely they will have more stock in the near future so may be worth waiting?
  10. I assume that if it was a blocked DPF the warning lamp would indicate this...unless there is an issue with that? I'm sure there must be something in the system memory to indicate a malfunction....definitely first place I would check
  11. sounds like a logical cause...being in an enclosed environment as temperature changes I suppose will cause a certain amount of condensation and then leads to corrosion.
  12. Seems like it is a common problem which can affect other models also...how it comes loose in the first place is another question
  13. I would agree with Dave as it does sound like some trunking may have been dislodged during fitment of the radio. Worth just pulling the head unit out and checking behind it to see what has occurred. Cheers, Trevor
  14. Hi Jim....welcome to the Forum Thought I would move your post here so it could be seen/responded to Good to have you onboard Cheers, Trevor
  15. Hi Ben...welcome to the Forum Post up some piccys of your Beemer if you like Good to have you onboard Cheers, Trevor
  16. I agree with Dave's diagnosis...looks like the Anti-Roll Bar mounting bracket and if the threaded holes are clear then it may just be a case of running some new bolts in and tightening it down....should noticeably handle a lot better afterwards.
  17. Certainly cold enough this morning...we actually had a smattering of snow this morning....first time in 5 years that sunny Bournemouth has had snow.
  18. Hi Kevin....welcome to the Forum Good to have you onboard Cheers, Trevor
  19. very nice....looks the business !
  20. Hi Bob...welcome to the Club I would highly recommend a reputable Android aftermarket system and see what is available in the way of fascia and plug adapters to make installation easy and error-free. I personally believe that the latest systems offer so many functions that way exceed the OE equipment but bear in mind I did state 'reputable' make (e.g. Sony) as the cheaper Chinese systems are very poor quality in comparison. Let us know how you get on with it all Cheers, Trevor
  21. just a though...must be a sensor fault then
  22. Hi Stuart....welcome to the Club The servo issue I would say is either a vacuum leak which is affecting the servo operation or it is a faulty servo unit. Either way I would resolve it before it gets any worse. The oil burning issue may be worth changing the grade and see whether that makes much of a difference. Also clean out any breathers you can find on the engine. Good to have you onboard Cheers, Trevor
  23. Hi Terry...welcome to the Forum Looking forward to seeing some pics of the new Bimmer...sounds like it has the perfect spec level Cheers, Trevor
  24. Hi Ian just a few suggestions....thinking logically but may be way off the mark....has the rear screen been tinted?
  25. wasn't sure of the size/depth of puddle but worth checking the air filter to see if there is any water ingress
