You can get it recon'd. No idea of price, probably cheaper buying one from a scrappy, but then that might have the same problem as yours

Take it to a garage that have a diagnostic machine, Snap On, Launch or a main dealer. Using an EOBD2 reader is a waste of time for the problem you have -

I was thinking about using German font number plates, not the ones with the Euro D on the side, just the font. Is this a stupid idea? Also will I get pulled all the time

Wasn't looking for any car in particular, Soon as I seen it in the garage, had to have it. Car that I traded in (Mondeo Titanium X) was newer than this one. Love this car. Wife still can't understand why I bought an older car than I had. She's not allowed to drive it

Do cars get ad blue? I drive a Merc truck and use 1 tank of ad blue to 4/5 tanks of diesel

As above, don't get anyone to look at it until you authorisation from the warranty company or they will invalidate it. They would do anything to get out of paying.
