  1. I am going to get rid as it's of no use to me and comes with a great tyre; solid tread all round by the looks of it. Sat in my shed currently gathering dust and cobwebs! What's your offer?
  2. I'm going to get my Style 32's refurbed ASAP in the New Year and wanted to see if anyone could lend em a set of alloys (ideally with legal tyres) that'll fit my 7 series E38 for a week or so I work from home so very few miles would be put on them; just need them so I can leave my alloys with the refurbisher and be able to use the car as necessary until I pick the Style 32's back up. More than happy to pay for a courier to collect & send back etc... Just saves the hassle of having to buy another set to do the same job Not bothered if they're the OEM 16" alloys or other 18" alloys or what condition they're in etc... In saying that I've got one OEM 16' alloy so may only need 3 of those! Thanks Dan
  3. I'm going to be sorting a few things on the hearse ( ) before winter kicks in and wanted some recommendations. I'll be replacing the front and rear UPPER suspension arms (front main bushes have worn and the rear ball joints have worn) plus both sides eccentric bolts & nuts at the rear I'll also be doing a full fluids change (brake, auto-box, diff and engine oil) and it's this I'd like recommendations on please What engine oil (currently running a cheap 5W 40 through for a month or 2 as a flush as the oil when I changed it was DISGUSTING!!! What diff oil? What auto-box oil? What brake fluid and has anyone uprated the brake lines to braided stainless lines such as HEL or Goodridge? Thanks
  4. Been out to see some relatives tonight and the engine light popped on about 3miles from home Plugged in my OBD II reader and used the Torque Pro app on my HTC and came up with the following 2 codes: P0170 - Powertrain Fuel Trim (Bank 1) P0173 - Powertrain Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 2) Can someone please advise me on these and give me an idea of what may need replacing? Thanks

  6. Hello I have a set of 18" alloys on my 728i currently; 8J up front and 9J at the rear. They're the multi-spoke alloys with quite a deep dish (unsure of the exact model/name) What I'd like to know is that are these wheels that came on the 7 series and also what are the ideal tyre sizes for them? Currently they're running 235/45/18's up front and 255/45/18's at the rear but then I look at alloy wheel websites they show tyres with alloy packages to be 235/50/45 up front and 255/45/18 at the rear? Also; does it make sense to keep 18" alloys on the 728i or would 17's be a better compromise? I think the car came originally with 16" alloys as the spare wheel is a 16" alloy! Thanks
  7. Thanks for that Gav :) Do you know where would be best to source the parts? I've looked online but everywhere is US based etc...
  8. Thanks; those part numbers I don't need (already watching those bits on eBay). It's the camber adjustment bolt/eccentric bolt numbers I need Thanks
  9. The rear offside camber adjuster has seized and it'll need replacing more than likely with the rubber bushing as well. Does anyone have the part numbers or access to part numbers? Also both front upper and rear upper areas will need replacing in the near future (large bushes have started to perish); anyone have recommendations where to source these? Thanks

  12. My thoughts exactly.. I'll more than likely be sticking with OEM!
  13. Just wondering if an aux in can be fitted to the OEM business head unit so I can use an iPod rather the CDs? My 728i has the 6 cd changer in the boot and the tape player up front with the radio tuner below etc...
  14. Now you see I thought that on most of my Honda's but I have to say; it made for quite a rickety ride at times and I regretted it on the Prelude and Integra!
  15. Looks like a full kit here; not too bad! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FULL-POWERFLEX-FRONT-REAR-BUSHES-ENGINE-MOUNT-KIT-BMW-7-SERIES-E38-94-02-/150865863984?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item23204e6530
  16. Thanks for that As I said I'm going to get the tyres, discs & pads sorted first as they're urgent & then I'll go from there Have you any links through to the potential parts needed bushings wise? Thanks
  17. Thanks for the tips The steering column definitley doesnt shake; just the rear of the car upon heavy braking from speed Other than that it's fairy tickety boo... I'll get the rear discs, pads and tyres changed and see how it goes from there
  18. There is a small wobble on the steering wheel when driving between 50 & 70mph which to me would be front discs are slightly warped; these are fairly new though so may see if I can get them skimmed first before being replaced However when braking from those speeds the whole car wobbles for around a second and then stops; really when the brakes are applied hard. Had this on my MG ZT, although front wheel drive, the rear end shook a lot and once the discs/pads were changed it disappeared Please could you provide more info re the centre prop bearing? Thanks
  19. Seeing as I'bve only had it since Thursday I'm still finding my way around things... Spent most of yesterday hoovering, wiping, disinfecting and cleaning the inside of the car & then got to work on the leather inside and then set about cleaning up the engine bay; all nice and shiney now :D - Got to chanage the oil & filter ASAP as it's as black as tar (been advised to go for some 5W 30 fully synthetic; any other suggestions)? - The whole car wobbles when braking from motorway speeds (at other speeds it's fine); more than likely the rear discs and pads that'll need changing as they're warped due to the car being stood for a good while before I bought it & the rear discs are fairly rusted up as are the calipers. Any suggestions for brake discs & pads for the rear (dont need to go overboard as I do about 2-3k miles a year)! - I'm going to swap the OEM paper air filter for a K&N or ITG panel filter; any other filters that need changing? - I'd also like some replacement wheel nuts as the current ones are rusted and look horrible; any suggestions? Thanks for your time :D
  20. Which engine is it for? Sorry for my noob'ness; I'm after a better panel filter for my E38 728i
  21. Howdy :D Went & bought myself a grey/gun metal gret BMW 728i (2000 x reg) from a very nice chap in Glasgow today & thoroughly enjoyed the drive back to Preston :) I'm a 1st time BMW owner although my parents & borther all have BMW's. I've had numerous Honda's (Integra DC5, Del Sol, EG6 SiR-S, Prelude BB8 and finally an Accord Type R) as well as a couple of MG ZT's in between but decided that I wanted a luxury, comfy & automatic car to drive around in and settled on the 728i as I love the shape and the 2.8 straight 6 engine is just ultra smooth! I'm a big'ish lad at 6ft 4 and 22 stone through competing in rugby union (& league at times) for nearly 16 years and upon retirement (forced through 6 broken ribs) I took up the gym & got into powerlifting, weightlifting and strongmand and have just retired 12months ago from those competitions after a solid & enjoyable 7 years! Decided that competing just wasnt in me any more; still train like an eeijit at the gym though  The 728i is in great nick; body very straight indeed & ultra clean inside (although it'll be cleaner when I've finished with it)! 18" 'straight spoke' alloys with massive tyres (not sure which alloys they are but the previous owner thinks they may have been off a 750i). Engine bay very clean indeed; lots of history and all old MOT's (did the usual online checks though and everything marries up perfectly) ^_^ The alloys will need to be refubed so I'll probably get that done soon. 1st jobs are new discs & pads all round (a far bit of wobble when slowing down from motorway speeds :( ) and full wheel balancing, tracking & alignment will hopefully be done tomorrow. Then a nice snow foa batch, solid wash (or 2) and a good polish as well (weather permitting)! I'll get some pics up ASAP B)
