  1. well, all I can say, after 15k miles and 18 months is that I'm very happy with it! Only regret is not doing it sooner! It doesn't feel like a 14 year old car at all. In fact it feels much better and newer than the 7 year old car I swapped it for!
  2. Hi Anyone know about replacing these? I had one go last year, my garage sucked their teeth a bit and charged me £325 for replacing the n/s/r shock. Said they had to take the whole of the back apart and it was a nightmare job. FF to this year and n/s/r shock gets pulled in my other car (not a BMW) which is only 4 yrs old. The garage again suck their teeth, then the bill comes in at 275. I get the same story about having to dismantle the whole of the interior upholstery etc......... I checked the price of the newer one out with the main dealer who said it would be MUCH LESS... so now I'm wondering if the garage, who have previously seemed fine, yanked my chain on the BMW shock too. Any thoughts?
  3. here's my fuel comp during a long m-way run a while back In case it's not obvious, I reset the trip meter when I fuelled up. And I'm not a Sunday driver by the way!!!!! But of course always legal... ;)
  4. Hi all just to say hi! Car still running amazingly! I do have a question though, will post it in a new thread. Cheers Paul
  5. that is very low. I drive a mix of motorway and crawling round London. I get about 30-32 on a run, maybe more and around 22-24 around town.
  6. yeah, I will do. Just so paranoid about leaving a mark! It looks quite old. Wonder why anyone would feel the need to stick this on such a great car that speaks for itself!
  7. Thanks JD! Where / how do I get to these bits? I'll have a play in the morning perhaps!
  8. I don't stop and start as much as in you do in SE1, so I get 24mpg round where I am.
  9. of course! I moved away about 10 years ago. great place, I miss it. I'd love to move back but somehow I'm stuck in at the west end of the district line with kids in school etc etc....
  10. They're OK really I suppose. Sometimes they're very knowledgable actually. I had a brake light bulb go. Theirs were very expensive but I found five on ebay for a quid. I should really put the 4 I now have lying about on there!
  11. and by the way, all the redex did was make a f---ing mess down the side of the car. Fortunately a good car wash place in Kingston (at the end of the Cambridge estate) had some fancy cream and repaired the stains!
  12. yes, that would be about right. I lived in Elephant and I think my car was a bit like that then
  13. that place? really? OK, I'll brave it. Probably be about £1 elsewhere then.
  14. OK thanks! Maybe I'll wait until a club meet and borrow that from you!
  15. Thanks Daz - yes I will do! I'll get it valeted first! Kids wreck it within minutes of getting in! Radioman - maybe one day, probably in similar circumstances when I buy my chateau (shed) in France. I expect it brings a lot of joy!
  16. hoping it won't take the paint off when I remove it.....
  17. oh and thanks Gavin, didn't see yours at first. Also, any tips on a new cabin air filter? Or are they much the same?
  18. Cheers Daz., I'll go for Pipercross, picture looks slightly better.
  19. So I should take it off, in other words. I think it looks cheap / unoriginal
  20. not so much. I don't avoid women when they come on to me (they avoid me), so perhaps I'm not.
