  1. when we purchased our z3,it came with 17" wheels and the steering was awful, tramlining & the car seemingly pushed off line by pot-holes.bought 16" wheels, had tracking done and problem sorted.bigger wheels may look better but they effect the steering imho to the extent that i wouldn't entertain them.
  2. may be easier and cheaper to buy a boot lid with the 3rd light incl. Regularly available on ebay between £60-£75 with one available for only £15.
  3. Z3's are a drain on your pocket.Oil change at an Indy, approx £115,service 1= £175, service 2= £230,roof replacement-soft top £500, just had water pump fail=£180,wiring issues, seat motors failing, remote locking failed, the list goes on and on.The problem is the Z3 is just about the best looking car ever made and is a superb drive on a sunny day.Difficult to recommend to anybody on a tight budget.
  4. Hardtops distort with age,are notorious for leaking, are expensive and spoil the look of the car.Not as easy to install as you may think. My advice, save your money.
  5. I would suggest purchasing seats from ebay, somebody selling a pair of leather seats for £75,location permitting,of course. To replace the seats. 1). with seat back, undo two front nuts holding rail down. 2). bring seat forward, remove two rear bolts from rail. 3). lift seat up and spin so headrest faces gearstick. 4). tilt to access base of seat 5). undo two bolts 6). release two steel wires connected at either side of seat. 7). pull seat from steel base, only held by hooks now bolts have been removed. 8). To refit, simply reverse procedure. Time reqd, approx: 1hr 30mins for two people. use sheet to protect footplate/paintwork being scratched by manoevering seat. Do NOT turn ignition key while replacing seat as Air-bag light can be activated requiring reset by garage.
