  1. Keep your eye out on eBuyer. I receive their daily offers email. They usually run a number of items on special offer every 24 hours. I noticed the other day they had a 2 camera system plus receiver with 500GB HDD for about £100. My next door neighbour had some issues recently and our drives are parallel to one another and we've been in conversation as to whether we get some cameras to cover each of our drives. I may consider it more once I have my 320D.

I do feel for you though, a previous partner of my sister had his car paint strippered by an ex-partner of his and it isn't a nice thing to see or have done to you. Hope you get it sorted and catch the culprit.

  2. Hi all,

I'm due to take ownership of a 2009 320D M sport coupe next week, it currently belongs to my partners father, who's had it in storage for the last year due to emigrating. He's told me the rear brake pads are due in around 3000 miles, but I've changed these on cars before, but wasn't sure if it's something I could do myself on the 320.

If anyone has done this, I would appreciate your input as I know BMW wants around £150-£200 but the parts are only a fraction of that price.

    Many thanks,

    Taz

  3. Thanks for replying Bruce, really appreciate your response. I love the colour of your 320 btw, it's gorgeous. I can't recall my partners Dad ever having any engine problems and just before Christmas it went to BMW and had a major service done, so I guess any timing chain issues would have been pointed out by BMW? The car has been sat in storage for some time though as my partners parents emigrated about 18 months ago, so it's been in and out of storage. It has had all it's services done when it's been in use, so there's no problems there. I just wondered what the engines were like on these cars.

I've never owned a BMW, but know most German cars are built to last as long as they're looked after, which this one has been.

With regards to the resetting of the computer, is there a machine you can buy that reads fault codes and that will clear the service computer?

  4. Hi,

I have recently sold my Citroen C2 Code and at the end of May I should be getting my hands on a E92 320D Coupe M Sport. It's a 2009 model with 60,000 miles on the clocks. It's been fully serviced at the BMW dealer it was bought from. I've never owned a BMW or a car like this, it's my first foray into the world of prestige cars. I just wanted to know more about the engines in this particular model. Are they reliable? It's actually my partners Dad's car and he's owned it almost from new and has never had any problems with it. I just want to make sure it's going to be a good investment. Is there anything I need to look out for with a car this age/mileage.

One other thing - the rear brake pads are due a change in a few thousand miles. I have done brakes before on my own cars, is it possible to do it on BMW's and reset the computer to tell it they've been done or is that a BMW job?

    Many thanks!

  5. Hi,

I'm new to the forum and when joining I hoped that I'd be able to get some buying information from the community. I have never owned a BMW, so this will be my first. I have been looking at both 118D and 120D M Sports and have decided to go for a 118D. Having never owned one, I don't really know what to look. I would really appreciate it if someone or a number of you would be able to point out what to look for when looking at a 1 series. I am going to look at one at a garage this coming weekend, with a hope to buying it if all goes well.

    Many thanks in advance.
