friend of mine has the following problem, he has had it to 2 garages with no luck icon_sad.gif . One has suggested a sticking valve?

Anyone have any idea's?

When the car is started from cold it runs awful,ie missing spluttering sometimes cuts out, lack of power, wont pull properly.

After 10-15 mins when the engine is warm the car runs ok.

(sometimes turning the engine off and restarting makes it better)

Sounds like a dodgy choke !!

(i think thats what its called but ive just had a total mind block and thats the best I can come up with for it,lol)

There is a number of reasons why an engine will run rough during it's warm up stage and often to give the best advice, someone with a "Trained-Ear" will need to be present.

All of the "Could be.." advice given will most likely be the things that the 2 garages you took it to would have checked.

He will need to take it to a BMW Specialist. The 2 garages he has already taken it to can not be BMW Specialists because if they have let him drive away with the fault telling him "...Could be, a stuck valve" they clearly don't know their BMWs. Keith at the end of the high street pulling a clutch from a Nissan Micra will not cut the mustard.

If you want more assistance, we can help but we need muchhhhh more diagnostic details/symptoms. With that in mind, get it to the right specialist and keep us in the loop!!
