hi new to the forum so hi everyone.i have had my x5 for about 6 weeks and its started making noise sounds like it is coming from rear as i pull of it makes a clunk/knock noise then it is OK drives fine all gear change is smooth its only just when pulling off :( any ideas guys.

is it just me or are you getting a smiley face and thats it.... Whats the details of the knocking sound... wheres it coming from..

Sounds like rear sub frame bushes if it's done over 80,000 miles it will almost defiantly be the problem

is this a big job if it is the problem what sort of price is a garage going to charge

My guess would be rear sub-frame bushes a common problem around 80k upwards. They are not a nightmare job OEM will cost about £80 to £100 a set depending on where you buy, I changed mine for Polybushes £195 a set plus £45 for tool hire (bush puller) I changed the rear spherical bushes while I was under there £29 a side. I am an old bloke and an average DIY er but the whole lot took 5hrs with tea breaks.
