Hi Guys,

I am new to this site recently brought a 328i 1998 with 102 000 miles. There is a knock coming from the front I have got it down to the steering rack I have ordered one. Is there anything I should know about fitting one, also it has a e36 m3 LSD on it which sounds like it is grinding. Do you think this means a new one? If so where can I get a replacement? Going to get it on the ramps this weekend and have a good poke around anything I should check? Also my ASC light doesn't come on when I push the button would like it to work because I don't want it to catch the mrs out. lol

    The grinding noise could be down to lack of oil in the Diff maybe. drain and change oil? Never done it myself but I'm sure thats worth looking into.

    No idea about the Stability Control Light, Sorry. Someone will help you soon :)

    By all means change the oil, BUT, I would dare guess the damage may have already been done, for example - the teeth on the crown wheel (or shaft pinions) may be worn to excess... Or the internal bearing may have failed !!!

    If you a very lucky, the oil change may revive it... Good luck mate.

    As for the ASC - Pull out the switch and check the bulb, and fuses... Maybe the wiring too !!
