I have a 54 plate X3 2.5. Love it to bits! Today I tried to release the bonnet and failed.. I don;'t think the cable is broken but neither me nor my friendly mechanic can release it! Any ideas?

Is the lever "slack" ? If it is then either... The end of the cable at bonnet has dislodged, cable dislodged from lever, cable snapped, lever damaged or the mechanism under the bonnet is "dry" i.e. Not greased and siezed...

Try the release lever several times whilst a friend puts pulsing pressure on the front of the bonnet.

Let me know how you get on because there is another way !

HTH

pushing down on the bonnet usually does the trick. just dont to much pressure

Yeah, we don't like unsightly dints ;)

You poachin for business ???

Lol, thought so... easy fix pal.... Just grease it...

Thank God we didn't have to use "The other way" B)

Oh god, I need to know the other way :-(

Tried the bouncing on the bonnet thing but it hasn't worked. Please tell me the other way, Chris
